I have both the ls50w and the lsx speakers. I LOVE how the mid range sounds on the lsx and the amazing power without distortion on the ls50w. This app, from a user’s perspective, feels slow, and this is because half the time (or more) it takes too much time to control a device (for example, changing volume o input), or getting the updated status from the device. My wifi network is not the problem here. I control other devices on my network with almost no lag. I guess the problem was the protocol chosen / designed to communicate with the speakers. On the other side, from an iOS app designer and software engineer’s perspective, this app’s user experience and user interface is a thousand times better designed than the new app for the ls50wII. This "older" app has a simpler user interface and does not ask the user to create an account, which is stupid for a remote control app (so, unless kef redesigns its new app, I will not upgrade my speakers). The UI things which I would add/redesign are: (1) the volume control, the current slider is not a good solution for human fingers, the volume level should not dissappear after 3 seconds and it should be redesigned based on the insight that this user control is maybe THE most used one on the app, giving it a higher priority (so, maybe size, position and/or color should change). (2) The top speaker picker should require less taps to get the job done (maybe just use an uisegmentedcontrol on the main interface and move the other functions to the settings screen). (3) Add a way to quickly switch between user defined preset volume levels (like "work", "party", "study night", etc). (4) Let the user control the input and volume of the speakers from outside the app, using siri, home screen widgets and something "simple" for the mac. BTW, I didn’t like the other app for the ls50w and lsx, the kef stream app, so I fixed those needs by adding a bluesound node 2i (and maybe that’s also why I do not care much about the ls50wII).

Control and Stream are not in the same universe with the speakers. Tidal integration simply does not work.

I’ve had these speakers for two years, kept up with the software updates, and they are still a nightmare of trial and error to connect to. All I can assume is the company truly doesn’t care. I got them free as part of my company’s rewards program. They’re not even worth free. The sound quality is great but they should pay me for all the lost hours I’ve spent trying to connect via bluetooth. KEF, it’s time to stop hiring the CEO’s 15 year-old nephew to write the software and hire a real programmer. Stop sending me offers to buy your other speakers, I’ll never buy another pair until you fix the crap you already have out there.

Great speaker, great sound Let down so badly by crap software and an awful interface It’s so hard to try connect to these speakers - the KEF control is appalling … why you even need it is beyond me

Doesn’t work on both iOS and Android. Especially terrible for travelers who need to reconnect to a new Wifi at every new location. ALL the speaker settings has to be reset for that. Just awful. I ended up with using an analogue AUX (RCA) cabel to use that piece of a wireless madness. Drives me crazy. And I’m a professional BLE apps engineer. Give my money back please.

The app won’t recognize the speakers therefore I can’t set them up update etc .This needs to be fixed.This isn’t the quality from KEF I’m used to
