Best kanji app

I’m really happy I found this app! From having to pay so much on other apps for subscriptions, this is incredibly good. You get all JLPT levels. It shows you stroke order as well as Japanese and English translation. Then also shows where the kanji is used. It also gives tests on what you learnt. ALL for so cheap. ONE TIME PURCHASE. Was only $20 for me in NZ. Where other apps charge so much more for monthly subscription's. I honestly think the app developer should charge more. I’m not rich and have children to look after n low income. But with my budget I would have been able to squeeze out at least $50 for this. Personally I think it it worth more than that. So for future people, if the one time purchase price increases I think it is worth it.

Superb app (with one small area for improvement)

This is an incredibly powerful app for learning kanji - especially if you want to learn the stroke order (which is a powerful way to memorise kanji). The handwriting system is very well-programmed, so it’s easy to do with your finger on iPad/iPhone (no Apple Pencil required). The only downside is that currently, in review mode (where it picks random kanji that you have learned and quizzes you on them), you can’t choose to focus purely on handwriting - hopefully they change this in the next update. Other than that, highly recommended.

App not allowing me to purchase new sets of kanji, nor is the sound working on a number of the sets

Pretty good but needs to be better

It’s a great app for learning kanji and all the necessary kanji in that matter, I just wish that when reviewing give us less levels to perfect the kanji if you get a kanji wrong in the practice review then it goes strait to red and takes a long time to get to green and it’s annoying, I knew when going into learning kanji it was gonna be hard and I was ready for it but I wasn’t expecting to be doing the same kanji 20 different times, still a good app just needs some fixing. Also if your gonna learn Hiragana or Katakana use the website Tofugu.com it never gave me a viras and you can print out a free book on it so use it for katakana and Hiragana. Also please add both onyomi and kunyomi reading in the lessons it really would be better

lost all purchases, no support

I really loved this app a lot, and it used to be my only real way of learning kanji, but it’s seriously frustrating how unresponsive the developers are Switched my phone a while ago, and lost all purchases. Restoring didn’t work, and 3+ emails with no response back. Just is unfortunate

Great app for learning kanji

Has everything to learn kanji. The quiz, ability to review without testing and the stroke order. Cannot recommend enough.

Great for the price. With some major flaws

Great app to learn kanji. It’s only one time price and not a subscription which is rare these days. It’s very nice to see. If learning kanji is your goal. This app is a must have. There are some major flaws that could affect some people more than others. First off. You have to know some Japanese. You have to be able to read hiragana at the minimum. This isn’t a flaw but just know that not knowing hiragana will make this harder. I suggest after learning hiragana. Start learning kanji and Japanese will actually start making sense. Sentence structure always trips up people and knowing kanji actually makes it easier to follow that structure without the need for overly complex rules that traditional language study courses use. The first flaw is the writing recognition. The writing recognition requires you to know all the stroke order to get it correct, if you make a mistake it forces you to trace the stroke order again from the beginning and not just your mistake. Writing recognition also fails to notice correct writings often especially on complex kanji. It takes time to write it in a manor which the system will accept a writing as correct. It can be frustrating. But if you don’t get frustrated and know you are in fact writing the stroke order correctly and it’s just the system not recognizing it. The writing feature is a great tool to master any kanji. The second big flaw is that all your progress it stored on device meaning you cant have your progress continued on another devices. So if you use this Kanji app on your iPhone but want to load it on your IPad. The iPad version will start from the beginning again. Sure you can start any lesson you want but it will miss out on any review lesson. But it’s a small inconvenience for a one time price that is less than most monthly subscriptions. Overall if you just want to learn Kanji and or make learning Japanese sentence structures easily and can live with it’s shortcomings. This is the tool for you.

It would be better if the progress is synced on the devices with the same Apple ID

How do I get past level one

Everything about this is great, the accuracy, the furigana, the writing; just perfect. But how do you get past level one, even with lots of practice, I cannot get past level one of each section. Please provide details or solutions. ありがとうございます

Pretty good!

I’ve been using this app for literally 5 minutes but so far so good. They have a good review feature and the interface is slick. Plus the pricing is NOT subscription based; woohoo!!!
