Procreate Dreams

You get all the great pens from procreat over on this app, but it’s very complicated for beginners who haven’t used the other app and you won’t be able to figure it out without instructors or videos. But most of that would have been worth more than two stars. The main issue is you can’t save more than the first thirty seconds of your animation and that’s the most frustrating thing. There might be a way to do it, but once again you aren’t told how and even when I looked it up I couldn’t find a way to. It looks like there’s potential there and I hope they improve it in the future.

Wasn’t sure where else to post this but one issue I have noticed in the months I’ve had/used the app I’ve noticed when using the fill tool, even with the threshold at 100% there is still a thin white line around the fill area. It’s mainly when doing an outline to fill in my colours then I see the white line is when it’s noticeable. I’m not sure if other people are having this same problem so I just thought I’d mention it in case there are cause while it’s not the biggest problem when colouring small scale things that you can go and paint over but for bigger things I feel it will actually prove to be a bit of a hindrance that might cause people to not enjoy the app as much.

Dear Devs, this is so exciting! I’m brand new to animating (seriously, complete blank-slate idiot new) and so I was thrilled when I saw that you were releasing an animation programme. However, among many others I feel also like there’s a whole lot missing from the app that would make the learning process and animation process a lot more streamlined, such as a lasso/selection tool that one can use for cutting. I think the app could really benefit from the use of some similar tools to the ones in Procreate, such as the Transform settings. When it comes to rotating a selected object, it’s a hassle to have to select the frame with a gesture (among so many already I have to remember) and then manually adjust it by numbers.. Another thing that I think would hugely benefit us is the ability to automatically straighten and smooth curving lines in brush and eraser settings, the gesture is quick and simple in the Procreate app and should transfer to Procreate Dreams - at least, I hope it can… I think that, if possible, adjusting the settings and tools to be more intuitive to users - especially newbies like me - would be a fantastic way to help improve not only the app itself but also the overall user experience. Anyway, I know you guys are already hard at work on fixing errors and adding much needed features according to the feedback from other users, but I thought I’d share my thoughts as a first time animation user. Thanks so much for creating this app - truly, y’all are wonderful for this! Good luck with work, and sincerely, thank you for the hard work you put into your projects.

1) a lasso tool, not gonna lie, it’s honestly a struggle without it 2) adjustable fps coz this 12fps, 15fps, 24fps…. Is actually frustrating 3) brush customisation. Especially stability And there’s more but hopefully they can fix/update them in the next version. Besides that it’s actually fun to work with

I’m loving this app! It’s got a bit of a learning curve with all the gestures, but once you get used to them, they feel make things go by very fast. There are enough features in v1 to get me going and I’m having a lot of fun. The only crucial feature that is missing for me is the lasso tool. It’s a huge part of my workflow in the early rough stages of my animations! I’m on the 2020 iPad Pro and this app REALLY drains the battery fast so I’d recommend animating near a plug point. But I’d rather work plugged in with snappy performance than the other way around! I love using my favourite procreate brushes, I love the performance, I love how easy it is to get started, I love how sleek and sexy everything is and I love what this app means for the future of 2D animation. I hope Jennifer Lee will soon be forced to eat humble pie!

This app will be extremely powerful, but currently lacks basic mechanics of ordering (moving to front or back) layers in drawing mode. Has no button options for redo-undo, relying on gestures. No brush adjustment setting such as stabilisation or to customise brushes. Will change my review as it updates and changes. It’s a miss for me right now until the bugs are sorted.b

Unsure whether it just high demand, but the app won’t finish downloading. Stuck at about 44% or so. This is my second attempt at downloading dreams. I’ve checked my internet connection and it’s fine

Export doesn’t work and a couple other glitches that I’m sure will be addressed in future updates. Barebones at the moment but it is v1, so.

Overall this is a pretty solid app, but I just can’t forgive that there is no lasso tool. If something is placed wrong the only way I’ve found to adjust its size without affecting the rest of the drawing is to copy paste the drawing onto a new track, erase all but the part I need to resize, resize it, and then trace it in its new position on the original track. It’s so tedious and convoluted OTL not being able to easily select and resize specific parts of a drawing is SO incredibly inconvenient ESPECIALLY for an animation app where changing the art is the name of the game
