Great technology absolutely awful user interface
The software and technology of this product is perfect. And I would’ve given it at Five star, but, They use an interface is so crowded with junk that you can barely see the controls, plus, every time I open the app it goes back to square one. Much too much advertising needs a simple dashboard for controls
Wish climate ready could make more complicated rules
The climate react let me sets a rule to turn the AC on (cool) when it rises above a certain temp, OR turn it on dry when humidity rises above a certain percentage… but not both.
Likewise, if it drops below a certain temp, I would like to turn on heat and then stop heating once it hits a threshold. Instead what happens is it starts heating at 68 until it hits 72 and then switches to cooling until it hits 68, and then bounces between the two, never actually pausing. All I want is the temp to be 70, with the humidity kept below 50%
You can only choose even numbered temperatures
Want to set your heat pump to 65? Nope! You can choose 64 or 66, but not 65. Or 67. Or any odd number. The temperature can only be adjusted in even numbered increments. besides that the app works pretty well. The most annoying part about it is that all the advanced features require a subscription, and there are annoying banners prompting you to subscribe.
OMG stop being so greedy
I purchased the Sensibo Air to control the mini split in my bathroom so I could keep the humidity down (to discourage mold growth). No where in any of the product description did it say that many features of the app are subscription based. The device itself wasn’t cheap, and now the manufacturer wants to extract even more money from me. Want to see data by week or month? Gotta pay. Automatically turn off the unit after a set time? Pay up. Check if a window is open? $$ Home Screen widgets or connections to Google Home, Siri, or Amazon Echo? All cost extra, even though they are mentioned in the product description.
Further, the app isn’t so smart. Example: as a test, I set it to keep the humidity level below 74%. The unit kicked on as the humidity dropped below 74% and kept running until I turned it off— and the humidity was at around 72%.
The app is also missing some features— I can set it to trigger the unit to come on either based on humidity levels OR temperatures, meaning if there’s a humidity set point, you can’t have a temperature set point. I’d like to be able to do both.
Amazing, while connected to wifi…
Excellent App! Although, sensor randomly disconnects from wifi and auto on/off may sometimes not work; easy fix by unplugging and plugging back in to outlet. Sensibo must look into this issue…
Does anyone even use geofencing?
7/24/24: I’ve had occasional need for the “Sync” function, when someone changes the settings using the remote instead of the app. This frequently used function is down at the bottom of all the functions. I submit that it should be at the top. Better still, let the user configure the sequence of all these obscure functions to meet their own needs. This could be done by simply letting the user set the sequence 1-14 (yes, there really are up to 14 functions), which could then be displayed on that sequence across and down. Simple. At any rate, Sync need to be at the top. 1/1/24 this app and the Sensibo devices are handy and useful. There is a new release available today. It offers updates to such obscure features as geofencing, weather and Pollution, and Explore pages. I am curious if anyone actually uses these obscure features. Seems to me the key features are On/Off, Cool/Heat/ Dry modes, and Temperature settings, and possibly Sync. The Anti-mold is probably a good feature, but you have to subscribe for that (figure the logic there). Having easy access to a legend of the various icons on the screen would be handy. Having the units recover automatically when they somehow get disconnected from the WiFi would make sense. Having them recover to the last known state (mode, temp, fan) after a power failure would make sense, as would setting the fan to Auto when switching modes would make sense, rather than to a random Medium speed. Would love for the developers to focus on enhancements the customers have actually requested, rather than improving features that are obscure and probably least used.
Such A Convenience
The ability this app gives us to remotely turn on and off the A/C in our garage to get our garage home gym cooled down during summer and heated during winter is immeasurable! The app is easy to use and most convenient.
Terrible
App is janky on the install experience.
Units would not update their firmware. Tried on 2 separate units. They may or may not have been able to get on the internet despite over an hour of troubleshooting including directly adding my WiFi to their internal configs.
App troubleshooting as well as web site is next to useless.
Decided to cut our losses and return them. Terrible experience all around.
Reliable and simple to set up
These things are great. I have two for Mitsubishi units without the internal connector for the Kumo Cloud remote. I thought I was stuck, my other Mitsubishi units are on Kumo but for these remaining two that was not an option.
Like I said easy to install: plug in 5V USB adapter for power, place near enough so AC unit can “see” the module through its existing remote control sensor, Download the app and connect to local WiFi and you’re ready.
I had some issues with one unit reverting to Celsius units after setting for Fahrenheit in the app but there was never a problem with control functions. Customer service worked with me by email with various suggestions to correct this issue and found one that worked.
Customer Service from this company is excellent, they responded within 1 day, provided meaningful suggestions, tried new approaches when first suggestions didn’t work and stayed interested until the problem was solved.
Now these are more stable than the Kumo and with more control options. The Kumo drops off of my WiFi system occasionally and stays “out of touch” until it connects again. These modules have never dropped out even though they are farther from the router. Great system!
One year review
I have this paired with my mini split in my mancave that houses precision reloading equipment along with powder and other very expensive materials. I need to keep the temp somewhat stable, but keeping the humidity down is a must. I don’t use any advanced settings, just turn it on when I know it’s getting too hot or when the humidity is up, and set the timer for it to go off. (Otherwise I will literally leave it on for days, weeks if I am away for TDY or deployment) The only complaint I have is it will not give me an accurate temp reading of what it currently is, I use a different system for that but not sure if it is supposed to or how it would even be possible with this system but I know what it says the temp is and what it really is are two different things. But won’t ding you guys for that, it may rely on talking to the mini split for that info. Either way, highly recommend. Definitely made my life easier!
