Speakly: Learn Languages Fast

I’ve been using Speakly for a few months now and it’s great. I like it enough to stick with it, it’s great at challenging my listening and understanding skills. The speech interpretation is excellent- it catches my little grammar mistakes (e instead of a, etc) without being annoying and counting me as wrong incorrectly. Only reason not 5 stars is the AI recording of some of the Italian when it’s read out to you on the learning flash cards. I absolutely hate it and one of the draws for this app was listening to native speakers speak slowly and clearly. Unfortunately this has gotten more and more frequent as I’ve advanced in the app and is awful. Would love to see these replaced by voice recordings of actual people and would easily make this app 5 stars (or even 6)!

For some reason the full sentence translation for learning Russian is blank, so when you turn the flash card you get an empty page. But this doesn’t happen in other language, like German.

This app is really nice to help learning the words and meanings, I recommend getting flash cards to help yourself with out paying for it. MY COMPLAINT: I’ve started 4 days ago and have been on a streak, I’m at 21 words and I’m starting to learn full sentences. I just started it and on my very first sentence I cannot continue once I’ve learned the sentence, there’s a microphone but can’t use it unless I buy premium, can I only use the sentences/ continue to use the app if I buy premium?

This is one of the best language learning apps out there.

I really want to use this app because the layout looks super nice and it looks very effective, however Portuguese is not an option. I understand development takes time so I will wait patiently! Thank you 😊

The best language app currently The only app I’ve found that teaches me words that U would actually use (Seriously Lingodeer, idc about lawyers)

I like the app but find it very frustrating. I say common phrases, and it marks them as incorrect sometimes and not others. I can say the exact same thing, and it will eventually accept it with no changes. They have people describing their life in Spanish at full speed which is helpful, and I like that they have you listen to songs in Spanish. I wish they were linked to Apple instead of just Spotify. Apple allows you to watch the lyrics as you listen, which I find helpful. I'm going to continue to use it along with Duo Lingo. If the speech recognition doesn't get better Im going to stop. I don't need the frustration.

I have bought and used many language learning apps and this ranks very high in my opinion if not the top as of now. The information is relevant and not useless. In other programs you will learn absolutely stupid stuff such as the penguin wears a red shirt. Does not help me. Thus far this app has not followed the woke group pushing their crap through a learning language program. I hope they are smart and stay away from the garbage. The listening exercises are awesome. Keep up the good work!

Need an iPad app!

The app takes about 20 seconds to load on iPhone 14. Changing the tabs also takes up to 5 seconds. I do not recommend it for beginners. If you start a new language you will get random words, with no explanation of how to apply time and cases. So, the app is not a substitution for other methods of learning, but an addition. However, it is a very weird decision to push a student to learn time, cases, or subjunctive mood when you only know about 60 words.
