Calm Harm

Track & resist self-harm urges

Published by: Stem4

Description

The urge to self-harm is like a wave. It feels the most powerful when you start wanting to do it.
Join over 2 million users and learn to ride the wave with the free Calm Harm app by choosing activities from these categories: Comfort, Distract, Express Yourself, Release, and Random.
There is also a breathing technique to help be mindful and stay in the moment, regulate difficult emotions and reduce tension.
When you ride the wave, the urge to self-harm will fade.
Calm Harm is an award-winning app developed for teenage mental health charity stem4 by Clinical Psychologist Dr. Nihara Krause, in collaboration with young people, using principles from the evidence-based Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). It is built to NHS standards and approved by ORCHA.
Calm Harm provides some immediate techniques to help break the cycle of self-harm behaviours and explore underlying trigger factors; build a ‘safety net’ of helpful thoughts, behaviours and access to supportive people; and provides the opportunity to journal and self-reflect. It also provides signposts to help.
The Calm Harm app is private, anonymous and safe.

My therapist recommend me and I’m so glad she did

My therapist says that this may help my urges and it did. 10 / 10

Awesome!! Also have a suggestion :)

Nuh-uh! No five stars on

Australia

I haven’t been using this app for not a long time and my therapist recommended it to me, but I absolutely love it already, all the activities and breathing exercises are lovely and its helped urges a lot !! I do have a suggestion for a dark mode option, as there are themes but the screen is bright. I use it at night as well and its super harsh on my eyes haha! Of course you don’t have to add it, it would just be great. :) Thanks!<3

Suggestion…

My favourite app ever made so far, but I have a suggestion, my suggestion is that maybe every day you get a star sticker! And the star sticker come with a message like “Say ‘I am beautiful’ 10 times” or something, And when you stay on for a week long streak you get 3 star stickers! And maybe a dark mode is introduced? (Just suggestions, you don’t have to add them) -Leif 🤍 P.S Love the app!!!!

The reason for a password

Macushla68 on

Australia

The reason this app has a password is because many people don’t want other people in their privacy and that is what a password is for it is used to keep things private so that not everyone has to know.

i love it

I love it! Helps a whole lot. Thank you so much for creating such an amazing free service. The only thing is that the heading part is all messed up on an iPhone X. Otherwise, it’s an amazing app and I’m so thankful.

Can't rate this app highly enough

gruggywoof on

Australia

This is the only app of its kind where I've genuinely felt a difference. So grateful that it's not filled with ads, in-app purchases and subscription fees like so many others; having said that I would happily pay a one off fee to support this app. It's really helpful to have grounding techniques written out in front of you as I struggle to remember any when I need them the most. Highly recommend this app to anyone dealing with impulsive thoughts or urges.

I just tried to use the app but i havent used it in months and i have no idea what my password is and now im more stressed. Why is there a password in the first place our phones already have one

Okay

Taryn_Schulz on

Love the idea but I wish the login would go away When I am freaked out I don’t want to think properly. Putting in a password makes me annoyed especially if I get it wrong. At the boiling point of a panic attack I don’t want to be worrying about a password

not letting me in

Emmy is so cool on

Australia

i don’t remember my password or memorable word and there are no other options to make a new account or reset password via email. i need to use it now but it won’t let me in.
