Is Capitec Bank legit?
⚠️ The Capitec Bank app has poor ratings and negative feedback. Users seem unsatisfied with its performance or features.
I’m concerned that this app has limited functionality. You should be able to select how you would like to receives OTPs for authenticating online transactions as linking only to the cell phone number is useless when you travel over seas and cannot use your South African number. I literally cannot make online purchases overseas as I cannot authenticate my transaction.
New Capitec Banking App
Since Capitec has move to the new Capitec Online banking UI, the service has gone down. Not only dies the new app not work (cant get beyond taking a selfie, then it crashes), I am now also not able to use internet banking as the new app has overwritten my online banking credentials and now requires me to not use my Username but my Bank Account, and this does not work with my usual pin code. I am stuck and cannot use iethe online banking or the phone app🤯🤬

Upgraded to an iPhone 15, can’t add new beneficiaries, can’t view my card details 🚮 Been to the bank twice and still have not been helped.

Everytime you try to activate this useless piece rubbish it wants you to go into the bank to activate it. So much for Capitec website mentioning that you can activate the service on line, Capitec is a bunch blatant liars
Your app is always not working great way to lose a client to discovery
Imagine I need to transfer money and it says you are aware of this issue. This happens every week!!

Worst app update ever
Experienced grave challenges because I needed to reactivate and no prior information was given to any clients regarding this. I had just bought something and couldn’t enter the app when I needed to pay. No warning whatsoever. Called client services and they weren’t able to help with my issue. I have to go into branch. What’s the point of having a virtual banking app? Spent 10 min on call including being on hold for 5 mins
Coupled with the long atm lines I’ve decided to leave the bank because of this. Discovery has everything someone needs and more without all the hidden charges. Good riddance Capitec
