Citi Bike Reviews

Over charged

Tin2222a on

Avoid this service at all cost! I signed up for what I thought was a daily use service and at the end of the day I realized that they charge every time you drop on a bike and an extra fee per minute. I ended up paying 100 dollars. Don’t waste your money!

didn’t make age limit clear

TheaIps on

Denmark

my sister had made a whole account, payed for at day pass and planned a whole day, just for her not to have access to the bikes because of her age. i don’t think, that is right. they should point out perfectly clear, whether or not, there is an age limit! i DON’T recommend!!

Scam - stay away

p.steen on

After one ride of $ 0,25 ride (promo code) Citi Bike NYC made a withdrawal $3,75, then $ 25, then $100 and my bank blocked my credit card. My husband had a withdrawal of $100 for the same ride on this credit card, so the company do it consistently. What a scam - take the subway or walk instead.

Easy to use!

It’s so nice to bike in New York. The app is very easy to use and everything works perfect. Many bike stations around the city. Take the trip alongside the Hudson River, it’s amazing. Really great customer care if you need a help.!

Please make more reliable

This app periodically crashes and does not work when I need it to. It’s super inconvenient to redownload when going to get a bike. Also, please keep the bikes in pristine condition.

Used to be worth it - not anymore

I took nearly 7k rides with them over the years - and used to be a raving fan - and have found that CitiBike is just not competitive with public transportation anymore. $5 plus $.30/minute for an e-bike? You’re out of your mind. I’ll hop on the subway for $3, and get some reading done along the way. I understand that stolen bikes are probably the cause of the price increases but I refuse to be punished for the recklessness of others.

Aiming low and bottoming out

Mikafino on

This is New York, the ground rules are you pay the highest possible price for the most limited service. The regular bikes are mostly sub-par, low inflated tires, brakes broken, gears dying. The e-bikes are overpriced full stop. The customer service is non existent and the terms you sign up for are extremely punitive. Beware of those terms, they will apply to you if anything at all goes wrong, it’s 100% on you.

receiving purchases, not letting me get bike.

I’ve aced the day pass for $20 using Viste via cash app payment method. They didn’t support it, but the money went through regardless. I’ve called support. They told me the payment method. I changed it to Vista via Chase bank & try the electric bike pass $39 payment goes through not letting me claim a bike “Unfortunately we weren't able to authorize your payment method. Try a different card or add a new one”. I try with Apple Pay it does the same thing. called customer support three times they all said the same thing. I had a bad experience & rate this app 1 Star.

Widgets?

Rather than fixing the bugs when using the widget, the latest version of the app just cut the feature. Lazy workaround and after 4 years, I’m gladly letting my membership expire.
