Description

The official app for Citi Bike, NYC’s bike share system.
Citi Bike consists of a fleet of specially designed, sturdy and durable bikes that are locked into a network of docking stations throughout the city. Our bikes can be unlocked from one station and returned to any other station in the system, making them ideal for one-way trips. Bike share is a greener, healthier way to get around — whether you’re commuting, running errands, meeting friends, or exploring in a new city.
The Citi Bike app gives you access to thousands of bikes in your area — unlock and pay directly from the app and get going.
The Citi Bike app also shows upcoming public transit departures, including MTA subway trains, shuttles, local, limited, & express buses, LIRR commuter rail trains, Metro-North commuter rail trains, PATH rapid transit trains, Bee-Line local & express buses, NYC Ferries, the Staten Island Ferry, the AirTrain JFK, the AirTrain Newark, the Roosevelt Island Tramway, and NJT commuter rail trains, light rail trains, & buses.
Within the app, you can purchase the following Citi Bike passes:

Citi Bike Reviews

Great app

Intuitive & easy to use!

Don’t use these bikes!

Avoid these bikes at all costs! We got ripped off big time! They overcharged our credit card several times and wouldn’t respond to any of our emails. Can’t believe they get away with this!

Unreliable and costly!

We had a number of issues with these bikes. First, we paid for two but it would only allow us to unlock one. The guys at the station didn’t know what the problem was (apparently it happens all the time) and we couldn’t contact customer service via the number provided. We then hired bikes another time and managed to get it to work but we were charged for 3 bikes. We also hired electric bikes and were charged the surcharge for them 7 times, but were unable to get a working electric bike. We docked the bikes every 20 minutes but were, for some unknown reason, charged 45 minutes for one bike and 60 minutes for the other. Ultimately it cost us $66 for bikes that didn’t even work. We intended to spend a half day in Central Park but gave up in less than an hour. We contacted citibike and despite having records to show that we hadn’t hired 3 bikes (among other things) refused to refund any of our money. Don’t waste your time. Hire a bike elsewhere (Uber bikes are awesome!).

Very affordable way to get around and see the sites in NY. I would highly recommend for the ease of use and convenience. It is a brilliant system.

Best way to see New York

Sensational! What a city!

Great app, great way to see the city

As a tourist in New York I was wonder how I was going to get to see everything I wanted to see in the short period of time I had. I saw the bikes on the side of the road and started researching more online and discovered the app. Amazing time saver being able to ride back and forth across the city and know where and how full the pods are trough the app. The mapping feature was also fantastic for someone who didn't know the area.

Unprofessional staff, bad service

I had an issue with my account. It says that it is in hold, I called them they said they will look into it. I give it like 48hrs. I called them again asking about any update. Nothing happened. They have the worst service and also they charge extra money. I will never ever use this app again. Same goes for lyft. They have a really bad service.

Mess up an app 101

Scam…makes it hard to rent a group bike and international tourists can’t rent here. Put the bike in every pot hole and side walk jump possible for these reasons.

No indicator of which docks are full

Mmf28 on

I wish the app showed which docks are full before starting a ride - a lot of times the decision of whether I take a bike or not depends if I will be able to dock it at my destination. The app does nothing to inform that decision until it is too late.
