Receive push message, check order, approve - with the new photoTAN push function, you can approve orders quickly and securely with just one click. With the photoTAN scan function, you still have the option of scanning a photoTAN graphic to generate a TAN.

It is now possible to fully legitimize yourself from the comfort of your own home with the VideoIdent app. With our new feature, the digital first activation, you can after the legitimation with VideoIdent in the next 3 hours easily and quickly activate the photoTAN app with a code that you receive by SMS. This means you no longer have to wait for the activation graphic

What do I need the photoTAN app for?

The photoTAN app is one of our security factors. The photoTAN is an important part of every login and transaction in your online and mobile banking. It is used to verify the order data you have entered and to generate the transaction number (TAN).

How does photoTAN-Push work?

The push function of our new photoTAN app is particularly convenient. As soon as a new order is available for you to approve, we send you a notification to your smartphone when you use photoTAN-Push. When you then open the photoTAN app, the order to be approved is displayed directly for you to check. If the data displayed is correct, you release the order with just one click.

How does photoTAN scan work?

After placing an order in Online Banking, a mosaic-like colorful graphic appears on the monitor. You scan this with the photoTAN app. A TAN is displayed immediately. To check, you then see the essential details of your order again in the app. If everything is correct, simply enter the TAN on the computer and the order is confirmed.

By the way: With our mobile banking, you can make transfers even faster and easier than on your computer. To do this, use the free Commerzbank banking app!

Image can’t be scanned

The app didn’t scan the image even after multiple attempts.

Forgot PIN

I forgot my pain and called the hotline at 12 o’clock in the evening, and despite my very poor German and with some help of my wife the phone Assistance was very helpful and patient and managed to help us succeed in finding our pin number we were very satisfied with the service.

Secure and simple

A simple elegant extra layer of security.

Impossible to upgrade

The app used to do the job until recently, but then it started insisting on upgrading to “photoTAN push”. The upgrade fails with an error message E-X-001 and it asks to try again later. Of course, any additional attempts to do this later fail, too.

You would think in the year 2019 making transfers on your mobile should be easy and pain free. The photoTAN is a useless idea, what is wrong with just password verification to transfer or finger print. Commerzbank App in general is a very poor and dated set up. It definitely seems 10 years behind UK online banking. Also, Instant transfers €1.50? This should be free... many providers globally do instant bank transfers for free?

Terrible & Confusing Set-up Instructions

The instructions were not consistent with the on-screen display; I managed to download the wrong Commerzbank app (not clear); also not clear that you needed to login on your phone app AND PC in order to capture the SQL codes on screen and in the activation letter. I hope you guys can count £ & € because you cannot write in clear English

Inutile completamente

Come faccio a scansionare il foto tan se ho un’altra app aperta??? Alcuni siti non reindirizzano al l’app e quindi bisogna usare un secondo device e scansionare la foto da lí. Tecnologia inutile, non avete pensato a questo tipo di situazioni? Preferisco usare PayPal a questo punto

The word app ever - not functional especially if you have only iPad

The general idea of this Photo Tan is just useless especially if you have an IPad as you need to log in to online banking and scan the Tan there but how can you scan it if you use app on the IPad ? the scanner is in the IPad...? First of all when you log in to online banking it’s impossible to find than TAN picture anyway. Absolutely worse application ever
