Description

The DoorBird App provides mobile access to DoorBird IP Video Door Stations. Using the app, you can see and hear your visitors in real time, speak with them or unlock the door. When visitors press your doorbell, you receive a push notification on your iPhone or iPad and can immediately answer your door – from anywhere in the world. The DoorBird can also send instant alerts when a visitor triggers the built-in motion sensor. No matter if you are at home or not, you will never miss a visitor or a delivery.

DoorBird's innovative IP technology was developed in Germany and is continuously improved through regular app and hardware updates. The system works in your local network (LAN) as well as outside of your home network environment without range limitation and securely encrypted over the Internet.

Looks good but not quite up to the mark on performance

dionw on

Beautiful piece of kit that unfortunately disappoints in terms UI. Most particularly is the length of the delay between when a door bell is pushed and is possible to establish a voice link between the iPhone app and the door unit. The delay is so long it more than often the party at the door has moved on before it is possible to interact with them.

Extremely buggy and no support

Hatzenshizer on

I inherited this system and have fused two doorbird technicians to try and fix a pretty new system. All have failed. The app has huge lag and any attempts to contact the support team have been ignored. Do not buy Doorbird and if you are at this point having purchased and newly downloading the app, keep your packaging in good order and consider returning the product to store

DoorBird

Expensive device, slow to connect to internet despite MDN & high speed, unlimited internet. When door bell rings by time DoorBird connects to internet individually at front door person has usual left! Visual not great although voice communication is good.

Best in Class but Shortcomings

bmanfield on

Doorbird hardware is the best in class. Ethernet and Wifi options, PoE power and relay control. Video integration is limited to Doorbird products. Recently MyDoorbell has been developed to support using Amazon Echo as a door chime instead of a $300AUD door chime available from Doorbird. A modest donation is appreciated for an otherwise free product. The Doorbird application interface is not designed very clearly and SU password credentials are supplied on a printed piece of paper. Recovering these details is draconian in itself. For Australian users servers have recently been deployed locally in the past 12 months significantly reducing the lag on doorbell rings and motion alerts. The ecosystem needs more integration with third party systems to get support from average Joe home users.

Avg at best

Delay at times for notifications to come through on my phone. Talking to the DoorBird only works occasionally but even then there is a 5 second delay and mostly useless.

Excellent door bell product

Great idea and well made but poorly executed

Not good enough2021 on

I’ve had great dealings with the local distributor of DoorBird but the experience of using the product has been below expectations. Due to the server being located in Germany it can take over ten seconds for the doorbell to ring - if it rings at all. It is so inconsistent that the doorbell only works about 25% of the time. A local server has been set up but I don’t think we’ve been migrated yet as I’ve had no improved experience. Fundamentally there is a problem with the IT architecture which lets what is otherwise a well built product down.

Issues

JSMarks on

Poor image quality compared to other 720p cameras. No option for time OSD or auto IR at night, only event (chime/motion) detection.

Slow and Horrible

dumbassuniquenicknamegame123 on

Instead of lashing out for German engineering, save your money and buy cheap chinese junk - there is no discernable difference. Extremely laggy - takes so long to establish a connection people leave. When it does work the delay makes it almost impossible to have any kind of conversation. The video feed is very jumpy even over 100Mb fibre internet connection and it has direct line of sight to the wifi router.
