DS audio

Published by: Synology

Description

**You must own a Synology NAS to run this app, and be running the Audio Station 6.5.0 package to get the complete set of features**
DS audio allows you to stream music stored on your DiskStation with an iPhone/iPad wherever an Internet connection is available. Better yet, with the offline mode you can listen to songs stored in the device’s local memory for when no network connection is available. You can browse music by albums, artists, folders or genres, create your own playlists or share them with your friends, and even rate your music! And if you have dedicated stereo speakers at home, DS audio can also become a remote control to stream music to them.

DS audio Reviews

Horrible

<BooRadley> on

Australia

Synology are not serious with this embarrassing app. I have an excellent wifi but it will occasionally jitter at random. Trying to use it on HomePod is a nightmare. Today it just played two songs from different albums at once simultaneously. How on earth is that possible? Can’t stop one of them.

Dark Mode Please

shapesinaframe on

Australia

App is fine, but getting blasted by a white screen when cueing up an audiobook in bed at night isn’t fun. It’s 2024 Synology, let’s make it happen!

Long recording is cut

Ldrosario on

Australia

This app cuts the recording and doesn’t play the whole music in the phone, but it plays the whole recording in the computer specifically when the file is long.

Does not work properly in Apple car play

msaccas on

Australia

First, it’s great that I can access my music on Apple car play. However, I have to log in every time I want to use it. Not helpful if you’re driving. It follows that what you were listening to prior to switching car off & coming back is lost The App is very basic and needs to be updated. Cheers Mark

Nice app but need iPhone Xs Max support

tazzy_520 on

Australia

The app is very good for listening to music linked from the NAS but now with the Xs Max phone the functionality is hard to use as it cuts into the top of the screen and unable to use the app properly now. Please update the apps to be Xs Max compatible.

Good for on streaming music

Starxcn on

But not so good for managing downloaded songs. When you made changes to playlist on server , you have to redownload the whole list for the new changes. What a stupid design. Playlist download has been around for 3 years and nobody thought about adding this function?

Functional but clunky and outdated

SashCashMagash on

Australia

This app works well in that it displays music stored on your Synology NAS, and I do like that it allows for personal music libraries for each user. However... This app has kept the same basic design for the last few years that I’ve been using it, which would be fine, if it weren’t so clunky and awkward to get to basic functions. For example, one would expect to be able to scroll to the top of a list, pull the list down a little more, and for ‘search’ to be right there - but no, it’s in the main menu. Why???? There’s also no way to open the app and have it default to the “all music” page, or to customise the layout of the app, or an obvious way (if at all) way to create playlists while offline from the NAS. The whole app design is reminiscent of Apple’s “iPod” app on the first few versions of the iPhone. This app needs a redesign to bring it out of 2009 and into 2018. Great job on the actual functionality though. Downloading music locally is a synch, and everything is displayed correctly. 3/5

I've been using this since 2010 and it's never worked. Synology support haven't been able to fix the issue. Giving up. :-(
