Description

**You must own a Synology NAS to run this app, and be running the Audio Station 6.5.0 package to get the complete set of features**
DS audio allows you to stream music stored on your DiskStation with an iPhone/iPad wherever an Internet connection is available. Better yet, with the offline mode you can listen to songs stored in the device’s local memory for when no network connection is available. You can browse music by albums, artists, folders or genres, create your own playlists or share them with your friends, and even rate your music! And if you have dedicated stereo speakers at home, DS audio can also become a remote control to stream music to them.

Tapping a song should add JUST THE SONG to the queue

boyfromthedwarf9 on

United States

When I play a song, it should ONLY play that extra songs if there's nothing in a queue. If I tap track 3 on an album, then go and add a different song to the queue, that different song should be next, not tracks 4-12 of the first album.

Does the job, needs dark mode

Ulti001 on

United States

Does what is expected, would be great if there was a dark them for night use.

Disappointing

BobK88 on

United States

Missing features important to me, like gapless playback, scrubbing for AAC and Apple Lossless files (works only for mp3) and alphabetical tabs for navigating playlists. It would also be nice to be able to get detailed file info (format, bit depth, sample rate, etc). I requested these long ago, and the requests have been ignored; I guess not enough users want them, or Synology just doesn’t care. As of April, 2024 audio playback does not work if you sign in using HTTPS and you have "modern compatibility" selected in SSL/TLS settings. You either have to switch to HTTP or change the compatibility back to intermediate, both of which are less secure. I like the GUI of DS Audio, and no other app that I'm aware of has a similar layout. Otherwise, I'd switch immediately. Please, Synology, fix DS audio.

pretty reliable, apple car play compatible

Dany4321 on

I have no complaints with this app. I moved my music collection to synology NAS and the previous music app (cloud beats) on my iphone didn’t connect easily. This one connected in a second and Inhad no issues ever since. It’s fast, shows all my thumbnails, keeps only the music on the phone that I want, the rest stays on the NAS. It works with Apple car play.

Won’t work with Apple CarPlay-compatible without logging in

PaperPusherOnBeach on

United States

This was my go-to player until I had a vehicle with Apple CarPlay. App shows up as CarPlay-compatible, and it sorta is, but only if you are logged into your server, even if you have downloaded music to the phone.

Maybe time for an update?

Asiel Flores on

New customer of Synology NAS I’ve been pretty happy with most aspects of my NAS but the music app/server looks incredibly outdated. It works, but it’s could definitely use a refresh and updated UI

Upload to Mac App Store plz

markovived on

United States

If you wouldn’t develop a separate edition for MacOS, please just allow MacOS’ users to download it officially. I’ve tried PlayCover to side-load DS audio, and the app works fine as it performs on iPad.

Pretty bare bones with some annoyances

Gramsterix on

United States

I have been a dedicated Synology user for 15+ years and I think they are great NAS devices, but Synology do phone it in when it comes to the “consumer”-focused apps that they provide. It works but it doesn’t offer a whole lot. Expect to do your metadata management elsewhere. Also, why are the locally downloaded files put in some hidden location inaccessible to the Apple Files app? It’s really annoying I can’t access them or manage them from other apps.

Only the basics

Scmx on

United States

The good part is that it will play my music from my home server. The bad part is the UI, ability to navigate around my files, weird login issues that require me to open the app 2-3 times, etc. Ultimately not sure it’s worth it.

App is broken (iOS 16.6.1)

Mr Krunchi on

United States

I think the latest iOS might have broken logging into DS Audio entirely :(
