Very nice just wish a few things were different

Cfhgjn on

This is a good browser practically the same as google except it doesn’t show a top answer like if you were to search when was something invented you would have to read a article preview instead of seeing the answer right away I wish that was fixed but I would still recommend

Love the mission, not the execution

I’m having a hard time figuring out how to log into this browser in order to sync my computer account and my IOS account, but the help page isn’t helpful/ does not work.

Can’t open drop down tabs on tropes

Checking browser on

After i updated Ecosia, i noticed i cant drop down tabs in the TVtropes page, which is a downgrade, and hasn’t fixed a scrolling issue. It could be on tvtropes end, or it could be something ecosia needs to take into account, tho i still like the browser. There might need to be a bug fix or an explanation though.

so far so smooth

Ecosia Is Great

TheMinion2089 on

Love the idea. I am happy to provide more to this environment of ours. Making people happy is my pleasure. Overall pretty easy to use and I don’t have many relative complaints ! Not the best for privacy compared to DuckDuckGo but I am willing to let go a couple add ons for the planet. Great app!

Browsing made ethical

iriv16 on

I never thought I’d get to feel so good searching the internet, but knowing that such a low-effort action on mg part can transform into something high-impact is incredible! Plus, the browsing experience is fantastic as a user. And I love their policies around data protection. I’ve shared this with everyone I know.

Counter working?

clance730 on

I love the idea of being able to plant trees based on my web searches! However, it seems like the counter doesn’t work all the time. I deleted and reinstalled the app which seemed to briefly correct the issue but then counter stalled again. Wondering if another else is experiencing this. As far as search results go, I’m happy with the app but I downloaded it specifically for the purpose of helping to plant more trees. Not sure if it’s that’s being achieved.

Failure to load images

Angul💀 on

I started using this app a couple weeks ago, and it was OK to use at first, but now images are refusing to load. No matter how many times I refresh the webpage, the images will not show up at all. Wanna watch a video? Forget it; the webpage will literally turn up empty. I had to pull out my Chromebook to find the image that I needed, send it to my phone via email, and use it from there. It was ridiculous and it was a complete waste of time. It diminishes the whole purpose of a search browser. Why would you advertise this app as such an amazing and game changing thing when it starts bugging out a week after you start using it? And I’m not the only one who’s experienced this. I remember reading a review written by another person who is complained about this exact same thing. If two or more people are complaining about something as detrimental as this, maybe you should start listening to them? All in all I’d stick to other search browsers this is definitely not something I would consider switching to.

Great app; could use some improvements

First off, I love the concept. I’ve recommended ecosia to a few friends. I can’t always find all the info I want on here, though I do try searching ecosia first now before resorting to other search engines. My main criticisms: - Searching for highly specific technical information feels a bit more difficult on ecosia than some other browsers. It seems like ecosia tries to search for results based off what it “thinks” you mean rather than what you’re actually saying (sometimes even when using boolean search terms and the like). If I’m using highly precise technical terms in my search, I want my results to contain those specific words. If, instead, the results are basic overviews of a related topic that don’t include any of the specifics that I’m actively looking for, then that’s a problem. (To give a non-technical example, if I search “cat emoticon” and my results are all for cat emojis instead, then I’m not getting what I’m searching for, even if emojis are SIMILAR to emoticons.) - I like that there’s an option to filter results by date, but I wish there was a bit more flexibility with that function. Rather than just having options to show results from the past 24 hours, past week, past month, or all time, it would be very useful if users could specify another time frame (for example, “before [year]”). Ecosia shows a lot of promise and potential, but I think it could really benefit from the implementation of something like an “advanced search” mode. That being said, I understand that ecosia is a much newer search engine than some of the more popular ones, and that it doesn’t have the same resources as companies like Google and Microsoft, and overall, I’m pretty satisfied with Ecosia so far. I’m eager to see how it develops in the future.
