Ads are part of a mini-game inside the game. You won’t spend your time that way. And the game isn’t a game it’s a chore. A chore that makes you wait and wait -  until you get impatient enough that you want to pay them money to get done faster. 
You know it’s not great when they hide the actual game from the ads.

I have been playing for a while. I really like the game, and have gotten to know some very nice people! 
To advance in the game is WAY to expensive!! This is really sad, because it is a fun game. It costs WAY to much to upgrade buildings, and to train troops!! Also the updates take WAY to long. Some buildings take over 200 days to complete upgrade, so you have to use alot of speed up’s. 
It is so sad, that Evony is so extremly focused on making everything in the game as expensive as possible!!

Apparently if you don't grow fast enough (aka. spend rl money) they'll suspend your game/char. A few weeks ago I lost my 4+ years old char. because they deemed her to be an alt. She wasn’t. Didn't use a bot, didn't farm for others. Not starting a new game, can’t take their way of run a big game seriously

The game has potential to be semi-good. However it is too fixed on getting your RL money. For example you have to surpass about 5 pop-up screens every time you open the game, they come with a delay of 10 seconds apart, so it takes quite a while just to start and play the game.

I cannot recommend this game. And would suggest you not to download it. Update: This game continues to break. All new updates only focus on one thing. Spend more money. Absolutely NO focus on stability or performance. Countless of examples in SVS and battlefield. All big players knows this and find the excuses Evony write a big joke. ( Apparently Apple doesn’t like when you write negative comments so they keep removing them. So we try again!)
