Really nice app to learn a new language! I would to see the English option in the future.
I really wanted to like this app. I read the book and the author made me a believer in the process, however this app has too many issues. Here is my pros and cons. Pros: - wordlist already added - pronunciation videos - built in image search to make adding images to flash cards very easy - generates all of the cards for each word automatically Cons: - Adding your own vocabulary is buried and not as intuitive to add - pushes to much on sentences instead of just vocabulary. This could be a little bit of a positive if you are farther along but too soon just leads to a complicated sentence (most proved to be not useful early sentences) and buries the word that you are trying to learn. - the pronunciation videos are too short, too fast and don’t explain well enough to be helpful. - with the twin words (Dutch) some are pronounced different by the speaker but the IPA for the two words are identical which leads to confusion. - with the twin words (Dutch) they sometimes put a Dutch word with an English word as a twin. The problem is that when they use thé English word (it says English underneath it), it is mispronounced further leading to confusion. - no option to set how many cards that you want to study each day. This is a particular head scratcher as the book talks about this feature in Anki. - this last one is a bit of a nitpick but considering the price, I expected the UI and the UX to be better. I don’t think they put enough thought into the UX leading to a cumbersome, non-intuitive workflow. The UI looks like it was created by an amateur or developer early in the career without any proper design experience.
Very disappointing that you are charged for two subscriptions at the same time and no help or adjustment if you try to reach them
With the latest update the app feels more modern. Especially helpful are the tips on how to use the app but also how to better learn such as by using own images. This app deserves more coverage! 💪🏼
The best method I’ve found by a long shot to store a language in your long-term memory and acquire great pronunciation.
I’m using several different apps to study languages. They all have strengths but also glaring weaknesses. Most enable a diligent student to cobble together a few sentences but rarely help with listening comprehension. In contrast, Fluent Forever focuses on the sounds of a language which allows for better comprehension and eventually, speaking. Of course, along the way, you are picking up vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure. I’m doing the Korean course at the moment. The Korean alphabet has sounds that are both unusual and unfamiliar to speakers of Western languages. By teaching the user to clearly recognize and distinguish the sounds, my comprehension of Korean has rapidly improved. Each update has made for a significant upgrade in the learning experience. I do hope they add a desktop version.
Hi, I’vd been learning with the Fluent Forever app for quite some time now. My main goal next to getting better reading and conversational skills is flawless pronounciation. As a singer I love the possibility of putting unknown words from lyrics I’m studying on custom flashcards. If the app would also have a possibility to add a custom sound to the flashcard I would rate this app 5 stars and beyond! Best, Diana (The Netherlands)
Great app! I’m learning German, only thing is, objects and such start with a capital letter. Himmel instead of himmel, Stern instead of stern. thats it!!!! awesome app!
Only been using the app for a week now but learning german has never been easier! The technique for memory improvement that fluent forever uses is just great and can be used for other areas of your life. I can’t wait for the Dutch version to come out!!!! Other apps I have tried do not come close to this one. For the first time, I actually feel that I could be fluent in 6 months time. Delighted!
I read your book, it’s really helpful. Could you maybe add Indonesian to this app?
