The Freedom app truly is freeing!
This app has really helped me get my time back and not be so consumed by my computer and phone.
Best money I have spent this year
I start my session at 10 pm so I’m forced to stop scrolling and either go to bed or do something else. It’s not magic, but it’s enough of a roadblock that it works for me. I also use it when I wake up so I don’t lie in bed and scroll.
It’s a great way to disconnect.
In this modern age this app fills SO MANY holes, way beyond simple “focus” although it’s fantastic for that. The UI with all the creating watch lists, etc. is so convoluted though, I use it 10% as often as I would otherwise. For example, I’m a day trader, and today has been very volatile. I’d like to go for drinks and then not open my stock trading app when I get home. Block lists are useful, but I think the world would love this option for a million reasons: “Don’t open app ______ for the next __ hours.” If you could provide an option that simple then I would use this app for 100x more reasons. (I.e. “Mad at my boyfriend, don’t let me use Messages for 4 hours)
My review is really a 3.5. Freedom does what it can do but what it can do is limited. You can schedule sessions in advance to block websites and apps during set times but that’s it. You can’t set daily screen time limits you can only block in time slots. So if I’ve been on an app for over an hour, it doesn’t notify me & block the app, which is what I need too. The price point for its capabilities is great.
Tends to not refresh and turn on your block list until you open it up. Gotta fix that.
I paid for this to block certain apps and web browsers however, it is very inconsistent with when it works and when it doesn’t. It’s very frustrating to put something in place that’s supposed to help you, but won’t consistently block things. There are plenty of other apps that likely work way better than this.
This app has literally improved the quality of my life so much, and it has allowed me an amazing amount of control over which apps I want and when. It syncs with any of my devices in the ways that I choose, and once it’s on, it’s *on*. The app name is perfect and I’ve really loved what this app provides (good articles on their blog too). My biggest gripe that for a paid product, this app has some glitches that need to be worked out. It’s turned off apps it shouldn’t, not locked ones I’ve requested and sometimes just turns off my WiFi…? But usually it’s an easy fix of opening the app again and stuff sorts itself out. But mildly annoying how often this happens. But I’d still purchase it again and it’s be huge in using my time again the way I want. 8/10 for me. :)
