This is the worst app. By far to find a good and cheap hotel.
Don’t really write reviews... The fact these guys have a 4.8 rating just shows you can game the system by buying fictional reviews. Stayed at a New York hotel which HT Charged me $400 per night. Found out later that Expedia had the same room for $250 (so they over charged by a whopping 60%). If you find something you want on the site just call the hotel directly or check other sites. The hotel don’t even know how much HT charged it just says “prepaid”.
I used to use Hotel Tonight a lot, several years ago. More recently I started using it again and it attempts to charge me twice simultaneously when I make a booking. One transaction gets flagged by my bank app for approval, while the other one goes through in the background. If it wasn’t for my bank notifying me of the transaction that doesn’t need additional authorisation, I could have ended up paying twice for my booking. I tried to contact their customer support about this but three separate agents failed to understand the problem and kept insisting “we only took one transaction”, which I already know - the problem is why it asks for a second one. They refused to escalate this to a developer or even a senior assistant so I know they can’t be relied upon if something goes wrong with the booking. The prices in Hotel Tonight seem no different to any other site, and sometimes bookings made through them are hard for hotel staff to understand, so there’s little to recommend this app and several reasons to avoid it now.
When I booked, instantly they change the price, doubled, or “they are no rooms” if I insists. This is a way to avoid fraud but is a fraud and I will report this app.
I used to love this app and indeed am HT Perks Level 9 but ever since the takeover by Airbnb, the app has been completely ruined. I have not seen a single hotel price where it was lower than going direct or through Expedia since. Just book direct (and earn points, by the way). Uninstall this.
I was recently stranded late at night in London after a train strike and turned to HotelTonight to book a hotel. After booking the only over priced property available I then found I was unable to check in as the hotel was already full and not accepting guests, despite me completing the booking through the app moments beforehand. This left me totally stranded in London in the middle of the night, and what’s worse HotelTonight wouldn’t even refund the booking. I’ve deleted the app now - I recommend using another app if you want to be confident of being able to check in after making a booking.
We booked a hotel via the app as it was so much easier and gave us the best rate available . I always use it when looking for a late booking
Sometimes plans don’t go as well as one would think with this app doesn’t matter you’ll always find somewhere to stay it’s competitively priced and very very local to where you are. In all my travels since November 2021 through to current time in 2022 which is now June. I’ve never had an issue having to extend my stay because I’ve always found a hotel within 10 minutes. It’s quite simply the best way to find a hotel and the quickest.
I love this app, when it works as it should. I just went on to look for a hotel for tonight and the dates are stuck at 2 nights time and won’t change it. The apo is called Hotel Tonight soshow me rates for tonight. I had to delete the app and reinstall. Hassle!
