Kanji Teacher is free. There's no advertising and no in-app purchases are necessary – it's just free, pure and simple.

Kanji Teacher knows not only all the 2,136 jōyō kanjis and their readings, but also the 8,000 most common Japanese words and how to pronounce them. This unique combination enables you to learn the Kun- and On-readings of the kanjis and apply and test what you have learnt straight away: both how to read a word and how to write a word you know.

Superb

This is a superb app for helping you to learn and consolidate knowledge of both kanji and vocabulary. Having audio and writing practice in the mix is great ありがとうございました！

Extremely underrated app

I am absolutely amazed on how this app is not more popular. There’s so many things that are easily accessible through this app all for free; thousands of tests, writing for kana and kanji and a heap more. It’s easy to use and I love how you can filter the tests too, it’s helped me learn Japanese way quicker than I used to.

The best Kanji app!

This app is fantastic. It’s also free. I would have happily paid for it. You can’t go wrong. It’s also really addictive learning.

Amazing app for all levels of learning

I went through the usual rush of downloading as many apps as possible to help me learn Japanese and then went through the process of deleting ones I found less helpful. This app stuck out instantly for not having any paid requirements (please don’t change this!!) and having not only the scripts, and an offline dictionary, but over 2000 kanji AND tons of words/sentences to learn! When learning all of these the app gives you multiple different ways to learn to help it stick in your head including reading both ways, AND writing (for kanji it even breaks down the different variants of readings e.g kun and on!!) Also it has mini games and tests as well as a section purely for practising writing at your own pace to see if the system will recognise it. Another amazing feature of this app is the ways you can adjust it to suit you ranging from making your own lists of words or kanji to learn (great for me who’s studying at school!) and also ordering the tests in JLPT order or school years! It’s great to modify as well as being super easy and not overwhelming! I am a little confused at the difference of some sections like the components and radicals in the ‘more’ section (there is a manual which is super helpful for the most part but it doesn’t explain what each section is [which isn’t really needed for most when the section is called ‘sentences’ lmao]) but I think that’s just me. It might be helpful to explain these sections in the manual though just to make the app even more idiot proof!! Other than that little tiny thing the app is amazing and im positive it will get me on track to getting an A* in my exam next April 🤞🤞

You only need this one app

I speak Japanese but didn't use kanjis in the past 10 years. I was looking for an app to relearn them. All other apps are rubbish compared to this one. When learning kanji, writing is vital. This app gives you freedom to write any kanji as many times as you want. It teaches the on and kun reading, which is necessary to read on your own later. And one more advantage: it has tons of kanji compared to most popular apps which only teach N5 and N4 kanji.

Great little program

The stroke order and placement on the screen can be a little strict and infuriating but I guess it does make for proper form, otherwise this is a very good program and is highly recommended, just be warned it doesn’t forgive lol

Amazing

To begin with I felt a bit lost and this app doesn’t seem that intuitive to use when your kanji knowledge is near 0. I have stuck with it and am slowly learning its full potential and really think this is the best kanji learning resource I have come across to date. So if you also feel a bit overwhelmed and lost, stick with it ! This is one of the best learning resources available and I am very grateful to the team that made it available.
