Just what I need to get fluency by immersing myself in programs
Enjoying learning using this app, particularly like how you can slow videos down, press words you don’t understand in the subtitles, and get tested on those words. Good choice of programmes to watch. Highly recommend.
Why, oh why does the iPad app configure this app in portrait mode? I use my iPad in landscape and charge continuously (the point is on the side), rendering this app as useless! So disappointed!
The idea behind this is great, instead of reading or listening to stock sentences you watch TV shows and get to pull the language apart almost in real time. Then you get flash cards as soon as the show finishes. And it works with Netflix. That's the theory anyway. In practice the amount of content is so microscopic you'll run out within a few weeks, days even. The Netflix stuff doesn't help much either as it's only a tiny, tiny, tiny subset of the Netflix catalogue. And you can only watch the Netflix stuff via a PC browser, not the app. With a LOT not content this would be a winner, but right now it's really limited to novelty value. There are literally just a handful of things to watch, it's genuinely surprising how little there is. This is for learning Japanese, perhaps the other languages have more on offer.
I have to delete the app and download it again every time, or switch my phone on and off. Very expensive for what you get. I will never subscribe again.
I like this app and it’s what I’ve been looking for to take my French learning to another level. I purchased a subscription and thought I would be able to access Netflix shows on my IPad but it doesn’t work with the iPad I do everything now on my iPad so not sure why this can’t be linked to Netflix. I can even watch Netflix shows and Amazon prime and all other catchup apps on my iPad. So disappointed. I like the idea and I’m using it but having access to Netflix shows would be a five but unfortunately lacking that facility.
Features in Instagram advert aren’t even available on the app or on mobile devices, the Netflix feature. Plus it’s basically just Netflix with subtitles turned on. Not impressed so cancelled during free trail and deleted app
I don’t find the French selection to be that good, and I’ve also discovered there are free Chrome extensions which show two sets of subtitles for Netflix, Youtube and Prime, so I slightly regret signing up for an annual sub. I wish that you could use LingoPie with Netflix on the iPad/iPhone but alas this feature only works on laptop or PC. Overall I would say I’m disappointed, however the flashcard system is pretty cool.
I’m finding this app quite annoying. I’m English trying to learn Spanish (from Spain) When I was doing the free trial I was looking at a programme called ‘Si fueras tú” I’ve paid for the year now, but the only way to get this programme, is to say that I’m learning French, then it comes up in the selection of programmes. If I search all Spanish programmes it’s not there. So at least I’ve found it, but then, when you click on the subtitles to get more information on the words, and ask it to pronounce them it reads the Spanish words in a French accent with French pronunciation of the word, which is totally wrong. If I put that I’m learning Spanish into my profile then search for this programme it doesn’t exist. The selection of Spanish programmes, in European Spanish dialect, seems to consist of, travel guides, kids cartoons, and programmes about Marijuana! 🤷♀️ not impressed.
This is an obvious app to use on an iPad, not so much on a phone, not sure why there isn’t a landscape mode for it already, this has been out for years. But still think this has huge potential especially for helping me with fast languages like Portuguese. Being able to loop dialogue/easily repeat stuff on Netflix shows is great.
