Not connect and wasting time and money

XxMoflyi on

I bought the lunar display stuff and I tried to connect it and it didn’t connect! Don’t waste you money on a dongle that doesn’t even work and don’t waste you time on try everything cause that’s what I did and it never worked! Conclusion: It’s a dongle that isn’t even a dongle and doesn’t even work!

It’s Ok for Headless Mac

Performance is good when it works, however. - Connection to dongle is flakey. - Constant splash screen drives me crazy, no option to remove/hide. - No support Copy and Paste. - Does not run in background so you need to connect via another method to log in and start app. - Very slow development cycle with very few improvements or new features. Luna display seems to miss the basics for use on a headless mac, I’ve gone back to Jump Desk which supports all the missing features and Retina.

As I don’t always use it, it opens on my Mac on start up holding everything up even though I didn’t select open at login, it always does.

I’ve been messing around with a lot of other apps to try and do similar things and this works the best by far! Seems like the other non-five star rating are due to network traffic issue? Hardly the app’s fault...

Doesn’t work on public WiFi

wdalew on

Australia

If you’re looking for a dual screen solution while on the road, this is not suitable. It works fine if you’re on your home/work WiFi, but getting it to work on public WiFi is impossible and it doesn’t work at all and if you’re thinking you could be on a 4G connection and somehow the red hardware device would create a local WiFi network to connect to the iPad then you will be disappointed... it doesn’t work like that. You can use a USB cable to connect your MacBook to your iPad, but you also need to connect the little red luna hardware device so you have to use up two ports. Not ideal for me because when I’m at home or work I don’t need to use my iPad as a second screen, I only need to do this while on the road. I find duet display a better solution because there is no additional hardware device, just connect with your USB cable and only use up one port on your MacBook.

Near perfect! Just what I need for a flexible setup

Loving this. I use my iPad Pro as my primary device, but it's not quite up to the challenge of all tasks, so converting into a secondary screen for my MacBook Pro makes them excellent companions even when on the road. There is some slight lag in switching to full resolution on occasion (I have retina mode enabled), but the performance is still better than other solutions I've tried. I also wanted to add a note to say that there's another review claiming "most developers and creative tech" people use a second display in portrait mode. This simply isn't true. Many may, sure, but "most" isn't accurate at all. I would appreciate the flexibility if the feature were added, but I don't need it.
