Good shows but the app is beyond bad. I’m on a free trial and I would subscribe if could watch one documentary problem free. I’ve been downloading each show thinking that would help but the audio goes or the picture goes. I have to close it then start again until it happens again. The worst streaming app I’ve ever used.
It’s a really good app for all kinds of documentaries. But I wish there is an option to auto play for some series that I’m watching.
Really flaky if you pause a show, takes ages to reboot and often need to quit out and start again. Annoying
Great selection, as far as the app goes I have had a small issue where subtitles/closed captions haven’t worked for a few days . This is on two separate devices.
I absolutely love the content on Magellan TV, but the app is a mess. Standard features you get in every other player are missing - there’s no buttons to skip forward or back 10-15 seconds, no “next episode” button, and no picture-in-picture. Adding to that, it’s buggy. If I go out of the app to check something else, then return, half the time the video won’t play again and I have to force quit the app. The UI is clunky and slow to load. Sometimes the video will just go black but sound is still playing, leaving force quitting the app the only remaining option. It’s an otherwise great service at a good price, but the app lets it down. I don’t think I will continue my subscription with the app in its current state.
I love this app it’s got so much content I’ve never heard of before. Just wish it had more Australian true crime. I use this app every single day without a doubt!!
You can’t skip forwards and back, you have to use a wonky slider that’s really coarse. The sound and video sync isn’t robust. Sound will keep on playing but the video has stopped or gone black. This might go on for maybe a minute before it sorts itself out. Then you try and back it up to have another go… three tries later it will work. It’s just a mature hour compared to the Netflix app. The shows are good but between the playing controls, audio and video sync it’s just too difficult to bother with the app and I’ll just end up on Netflix or YouTube.
Can’t fault the content but the app itself is rubbish. Performs very poorly if you aren’t in an area with great 4G coverage. As soon as it starts buffering an episode, the video goes black then the audio cuts back to 0:00 and the video continues from wherever you were up to
I’ve heard about MagellanTV for awhile now, and finally decided to check it out. I had tried a few similar streaming services, and was unimpressed with the content, but MagellanTV have plenty of interesting shows I can sink into…however, the app is inferior to its competitors. There’s no ability to have screen in screen, so if you have to use another app, the show just stops…it doesn’t even continue the audio. I’ve also had a lot of trouble with airplay. The app we’re told to use with the Samsung tv does not work, and when I try AirPlay, it connects *sometimes* but only once have I been able to get visual as well as audio, most of the time I can hear it, but I’m staring at a blank screen. With work, MagellanTV would definitely be a 5 star, but it really needs to lift its app game.
Magellan is better than I imagined and with enough content to keep me learning and occupied for years!
