Bref, j’adore !

Duped by clever marketing. Pregnant on green day.

I most certainly feel naive - I fully bought into the message of no hormonal birth control, after being on the pill & other methods for c. 10 years. I read, and read, and read, and found so many good testimonies, reinforced by the instagram influencers , and all of the articles in the app, including real emphasis on the scientific aspect. I really bought into the temperature gauging and LH tests. Long story short, I was pregnant within 3 months of app usage. The app asserted my regularity of cycle with positive reinforcement “Congratulations ! We’re getting to know you ! Your cycle is very regular!” Etc. , and with only one fully confirmed ovulation date, my calendar switched to majority green days, with 10 or so red days in the middle (for which I was assured was a strong buffer). Low and behold, I took an LH test (earlier than advised in the app) which came positive on the Saturday, 2 days after my unprotected “green day” sex on Thursday. Ovulation confirmed on Monday. There was no change to the red or green days on the calendar, or any notice suggesting to consider emergency contraception (for example on the Saturday when the LH test was positive). I trusted that the buffer must have taken this all into account. I diligently continued taking my morning temperature until the temperature didn’t drop, and no period came - followed by a positive pregnancy test. I wrote to the app, requesting (a clear minimum) of reimbursement on the annual cost of the app. My email was ignored. In the meantime, I’ve gone through the trauma of ending an unwanted pregnancy, something I never saw myself experiencing, and incurring all financial and emotional costs.

A shame

No free trial

I haven’t been able to try this app as there is no real free trial. If you get the 4 weeks free trial you have to pay 40€ for a cheap thermometer. That’s a shame really.

Good app

It’s really a good application. I can have a better follow up on my cycle. The theorical content are extremely good and also scientifically easy to read. I love the idea of the natural plan pregnancy, follow pregnancy, and birth control. It’s really good, considering some women wants to be off the hormonal medecine. However there are some negatives points : - There is no option for french language and other commun languages such as german, japanesse… - The ovulation tests and pregnancy test are really too expensive (15 strips for ~20€, which means that 1 strip is costing 1.33€) or (10 strips for ~16€ means that 1 strip is costing 1.6€). - The ovulation tests and the pregnancy tests needs some improvements. Is it not more effective when we mesure to have a t/c ratio that help the user to have an better understanding and a better follow up? - The cost of the application is ~ 9€/ months or ~ 64€/months + the ovulation/pregnancy strips it shouldn’t be that expensive. Considering that the women are already spending a lot of money on pads, tampons… your application is costing a lot monthly. - The referal system (to « help » the user to have a free apps) is not really good. You are asking to send, the apps as a referal (yes, it’s a good idea) but it’s too expensive for some women considering what I mentionned earlier, even though is a good application. This is my honest opinion on your apps, although it is good. Some points need to be corrected so you can make a clear difference than the other apps.

28 cycles

Having been on the pill only for two years in my late teens, I was looking for something like natural cycles at the start of the digital boom. In the meantime I tracked with pen and paper, something that can be so cumbersome to do and the data of which is risky to interpret with little (or in my case no) formal education in female reproductive health. The wait has been worthwhile. Natural Cycles helps me feel confident in my choice to prevent pregnancy without hormones. The best part of it all is getting to know my body and having a partner eager to learn along with me. It is a liberating feeling. The app works wonderfully. Easy to navigate. I especially appreciate the educational articles and notifications that help remind me to track and appreciate my body. I have been tracking for 35 cycles (a bit on and off for 4 yrs) now and my confidence in it grows. One thing I do *not* appreciate about Natural Cycle is their recent partnership with Nike and Lululemon. I am not using this app to have other products marketed to me. Please NC, stop fueling consumerism.

Amazing

I use NC app since 2017 at least. More than just helping me to have a natural contraception, Natural Cycle really helps me to reconnect with my body, understand my cycle and be more conscient about what’s going on in my body according to my cycle. It also provides so much educative information that we should have be taught in school. It is really powerful. About the contraception, I used the app to prevent a pregnancy. According to my doctors and much analyse, conception should be easy for me, so for people who are “scare” to use the app, you can really trust it. I trust it for few years now and it is so accurate and amazing!
