Note: Access to a Nextcloud server with the Notes app installed is required to use this app. Visit https://nextcloud.com for more information.

Nextcloud Notes is a notes editor that syncs with the Notes app (https://github.com/nextcloud/notes/releases) on your server.

Once you have logged in to your server, all notes will be kept in sync between devices and also the web interface. Optionally supports sync on startup.

You can create and delete notes directly on the device. Notes can be organized in categories. Edit as plain text or use markdown for rich formatting. Notes can be copied or exported to other apps or services in several formats.

If you have a sync client (optional) installed on your desktop computer all notes will be there too, and can be edited with any text editor.

Pretty awful

Sync’d once and once only. Then there’s no formatting options at all. Just plain text. That’s it.

No longer works

Improved over the years

I've been using this app for a number of years and it has become increasingly crucial to my note-taking. The functionality has increased and so has its reliability. Now I can't recall the last time I've had a problem with it. And so as a note-taking tool, it's perfect. I commend the developer for making it and for maintaining it and improving it.

Does not find Nextcloud server

No error message just doesn’t connect Poorly done!

Very basic

It works but is very basic. Can’t enter the name of a new note and they always start off named “new note”. Also i keep getting weird http error messages although it does seem to work.

Requires constant access to the server

Have Nextcloud on a server at home - not available on the internet. That makes this app useless outside my home network. By contrast I use Nextcloud to sync my calendar and contacts - those iOS native apps handle this like you would expect. With CloudNotes I just get a big red banner with “Error Updating Note” and lots of technical details that I cannot dismiss.

A fantastic companion to the owncloud service

At our organisation, owncloud is an indispensable service for collaboration with 70+ colleagues. This notes app allows me to make owncloud notes on the move, which means that I can always access my information when I need it. A fab app. Thank you. Please make more owncloud apps!!!!

Does the job

Once you have the corresponding Notes app installed on your Owncloud server, this app connects quickly and acts as a drop-in replacement for the Notes app in iOS. There's also a Cloudnotes app for Mac from the same developer. Cloudnotes isn't as pretty as Apple's own Notes app, but the .txt files it creates are all yours and stored in a Notes folder on your server.
