I love Notes Plus and now the newer Notes Plus X. The app is easy to use. My issue with it is using it with Google Drive storage. I have done all sorts of tests, workarounds and reinstallations, but Notes Plus X fails to create documents in Google Drive and crashes the iPadOS Files app. Saving PDFs in Drive is fine, but making and saving notes plus document files just hangs (it shows as not uploaded and greyed out). I have had to resort to saving documents in iCloud Drive which works. I have emailed the developer about this. At the moment, the app is unusable within Google Drive to save notebooks.

If I import old notebooks, it seems to break the app. But if I delete the app and re-download and never import anything it seems ok. If I import anything at all - Imported documents are blank - I cannot see anything on them. Trying a new document - when I write with the pen (not Apple Pencil) the lines show, but if I switch to eraser everything I have written with the pen vanishes and you can’t see what to erase! Sticking with the old version.

Second day in a row this has happened. I’ve gone into a trance with my thoughts, noted down great ideas and insights, and suddenly, I don’t know how or why, it’s all gone. Right now I hate this app

I’ve been using the old Notes Plus app extensively and thought it would be a good idea to move on to the newer one. How wrong I was! Upon transition the old files get wiped and converted into new ones that superficially look the same. However, when I had to re-edit some, I spotted random missing hand-written text, characters or symbols on nearly every page. Decorated in addition with some random lines going criss-cross over the pages that one cannot select or delete. Sadly there was no way back, so I tried fixing the files. But only to eventually realise that Notes Plus X does not save them. Spinning wheel forever after some changes have been done, both for files in the cloud and for those stored locally. Force-quitting Notes Plus X after some minutes and then restarting did not help. All the errors are back, no corrections saved. It would be a good idea for the developer to provide a utility to resurrect the old files from the new npx files. And if it’s not too late, do not convert any of your old files!

Crashes when you open the templates and this newer version doesn’t seam to have password protect, which is a shame because there is so much potential for the app, the hand writing gestures are incredible, the ink styles are amazing, and the new templates make it better than he first version, (I bought both in a bundle) but the lack of password protection and the constant crashing makes me nervous to invest time in my writing as it may crash and I could loose my work. If support can address these issues it could be a good app, but if not, I’d recommend looking at alternatives. I’ll update this review if the problems are addressed.

I just can’t find a user guide on how to use the features on iPad. - it gives me option to create notebook in my OneDrive folder, when I create one it either does not open and if it opens I can only see a blank screen - how do set up my syncing and back up of docs to one drive ? Right now I see one drive folder when I open notes plus x but with read only access . In short - if you are marketing note taking features please also ensure you have guides or videos showing how to exploit those features Lastly, I purchased the bundle but figuring what is the difference notes plus vs notes plus x and if x is the latest version why bother selling notes plus to first time buyers - The joy of writing experience in INKredible was negated by experience of just figuring these basics . I hope you guys address this

..but notes plus is super laggy now. This is smoother but the fonts don’t work when using a keyboard and the import trashes all of your historic notes plus files. A big X from me. Waste of money

Just downloaded the new notes plus and it has somehow wiped everything for the old app. All my important documents, gone ! Please be careful

I’ve been using the older Notes Plus for several years and after having tried just about all the handwriting-focused note-taking apps I stuck with Notes Plus. It works really well and the handwriting experience is second to none. Notes Plus X is the heart of the older Notes Plus moved into a modern iPadOS app. All the goodness from the old is there but with all the new interface conventions and document-based options you’d want now. It bodes well for the transition to iPadOS 15 too. Apart from being easier to use because it works like very other modern iPad app there are some great advantages to the new document storage, mainly that I can store things wherever I want and on whichever cloud service I want. I’ve got both old and new installed on my iPad but now I never go back to the old. Long live the new Notes Plus X! I am hopeful about the new functionality the developer will be able to deliver on this new foundation. In short, well worth the money, the work on this new version is evident throughout.

I enjoyed using Notes Plus and was happy to upgrade to Notes Plus X. I did not waste my money! Congratulations to the Dev for a job well done.
