Description

Block annoying scammers who hide behind fake phone numbers.
Do you get unwanted calls or text messages from phone numbers similar to your own? With Number Shield, block an entire group of numbers at once. Just enter a wildcard for each digit you want to block.
For example, if your number is 714-555-1234, scammers might use a number like 714-555-6789. Block all similar numbers by entering 714-555-####. Wildcards and numbers can be combined in any order you choose. Block international numbers, too!
To make sure you don't miss calls from your family and friends, phone numbers in your contacts are always allowed.
Block numbers directly from your phone's missed calls screen. Just follow these steps:
1. Tap the “ i ” button next to the missed call.
2. Tap “Share Contact”.
3. Tap “Block Similar Numbers”. (If you don't see this action, tap “Edit Actions...“ to enable it.)
4. Now you'll see the Number Shield number entry screen. Tap “Done” to block calls from similar numbers.
Please note:
• Each number pattern can contain up to 7 wildcards, and up to 50,000,000 phone numbers can be blocked.
• Blocked calls are sent directly to voice mail.
• Blocked text messages are sent to the “Junk” filter in the Messages app.
• iMessage messages are not blocked.
• When “Do Not Disturb” is enabled on your phone, calls that should be blocked may appear in your phone's list of missed calls.

Updated 2024: still working. I never even know it’s there. It just does its job! Original review: I’ve been using this app for several years and it works great. You have to pay attention to setting it up but afterwards it just does its thing. I’ve tried several of the big-name blocker apps but this one is better. The developer is responsive if you have an issue or question. I wish I were more of an influencer so I could help it get more recognition! Thanks to the developer!!

Does not work.

Trying to block area code 202 to get rid of all the political garbage spam text and this app doesn’t work.

Used to Work

Doesn’t work with iPhone. Not resetting my phone to make this app work like it suggests. Fix your app to be compatible with iPhone. All I get is a msg that says “database error. Need to backup and reset phone.” Deleted app, still same issue.

Work at first…

Worked for the first four or five entries but now it won’t open. It says “Blocking Numbers” and never gets past 25% so u can’t put in more numbers.

Great app for unwanted calls

I was getting 6-7 calls from North Carolina every day. After installing Number Shield, I have blocked about 42 million numbers in NC. Calls are now maybe one a day—then I block that area code and prefix. Nicely done.👍😊

ZERO stars — do NOT waste your time or money!

The app is terrible. I've reached out to the developer multiple times (example below) and gotten NO RESPONSE from Customer Support. "Hi, I'm making another attempt to get a response to my message. Please explain why the app isn't working, and why it starts a long "high number count" block process EVERY time I re-open the app. Annoyingly, there's no way to stop the process either. Again please advise."

Ineffective

I’ve been getting a ton of spam text messages lately so decided to see if there was an app that could block numbers according to area code, and I saw this one mentioned a few times in my searches. I downloaded it and entered 4 of the most common area codes I was getting these from. The app said it couldn’t do it on the 4th one and to try again. After uninstalling and reinstalling the app a number of times, plus restarting my phone, I finally got it to work. It said something like 40 million numbers were blocked. I was like Yes, finally!! … only to be disappointed by getting multiple spam texts from those same area codes within the next week… I tried entering a “1” in front of the number thinking maybe that was the issue but it wouldn’t even change it over. Also checked to be sure my call blocking was allowing the app, and that the “block text messages” was on within the app.

Haven’t seen much Change
