Absolute rubbish
I have an Onkyo 7100 amp. On initial set up I used the supplied microphone balance the speakers using Dirac. All worked fine. Having done a software update it will now only let me use the Dirac setup via the app (so not necessary) so I started it up, it set the sound levels then takes readings for each speaker. Every time it fails and says sound levels are too high. ( It sets the levels) I’ve turned them down manually to minimum and it still says sound levels too high. So now I can’t use Dirac set up anymore. What a useless app.
Update to V3 no longer recognises my device
The app used to be functional when someone in the house inadvertently changed sound settings. Since the update to V3, it simply does not recognise my amp. Manual and automatic settings make no difference at all. Just a warning. There should be a warning as I can not even download an older version of this app. Would rate this update zero starts if that were possible - negative even.
One of the reasons that this is wrong (locking out older devices) is, the amp is fantastic - 4K HRD, loud as all hell and an absolutely dream of a sound device. I want to keep it and not update yet another amp, wasting a perfectly good and serviceable amp.
V3 No Longer Finds Devices
V3 update now doesn’t find any devices, as per the other Nov 2022 review. Please fix. It doesn’t seem ask for local network permission when installing - is this perhaps the issue that needs fixing ?
What happened Onkyo?
Onkyo have gone drastically downhill, I bought a tx-nr 686 the sound just does not gel together as a speaker system, it’s 8 separate speakers fighting each other and anything loud nearly blows the roof off while you can’t hear the dialogue, I hoped this app would help with fine tuning the sound but unfortunately this is also next to useless, I’ve had onkyo amps previously and was very happy with them, this however is getting sold or returned and I doubt I’ll buy onkyo again, 0 stars not 1
Bug to fix
I was very happy using this up until last week when it stopped working properly. Please fix. The app is great to control your Onkyo system
No longer works after latest patch
This use to be a good little app but since the last update it has ceased to work.
The app crashes when you open it if you are connected to WiFi. Only way to get the app to open is to turn your WiFi off, but you then it can’t see your AV receiver!
App not working
My Onkyo App has suddenly stopped working. It shuts immediately after opening it and I cannot it access it.
Crashes
Doesn’t work.
Doesn’t work
Crashes and closes as soon as you open it
Probably the worlds worst app
I’d have given zero stars if I could. This app is next to useless. Half the time it can’t find the receiver, crashing on startup and when on the rare it does manage to connect it freezes after completing one thing. Then there’s the awful design of the interface. There’s nothing intuitive about it all! It’s a perfect example of how not to design an app! In fact it’s so bad that I’m sending the receiver back and buying something else from another company. Did anyone actually test it before sending it out?
