Owlet Care FAQ
Is Owlet Care free?
Yes, Owlet Care is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Owlet Care legit?
🤔 The Owlet Care app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
The WiFi connection is incredibly temperamental! Sometimes it takes forever to pair the thing and if your WiFi signal isn’t strong forget about trying to connect it! The app needs serious work, most importantly seeing as though it’s an app why is there no in screen monitoring option like you get with any other streaming application? So that you could monitor your baby without even having to go into the app, that would seem like the most logical thing to have with a “baby monitor”. I’d opt for a normal baby monitor over the owlet especially with the premium price I paid for it!
Night vision
Camera has a blurred white line across the screen when switching to night mode. Can’t see anything
Worth it for how long…
To start off with the Owlet was an awesome investment. But as after about 12 months a couple of errors came around. But most importantly when we needed the Owlet products to preform when we had a sick child it was always searching for the base station.
In a nutshell. The investment is worth it for a while but after a couple of months it is way overpriced and not worth it having to connect and reconnect the entire time
No dreamsock support
Does not list dream sock as a device to add
Peace of Mind
We would be totally lost without our Owlet. It is hands down the best investment we have made and we highly recommend the product!
Thank you for making my 3rd experience as a mom that much easier.
Suggestions
I'm from South Africa, and the app is functioning very well for me. Regarding the negative comment or review, I would suggest that the user adjust their camera's stream rate to lower settings, as their Wi-Fi may not support a 1080p HD stream. Personally, I am not experiencing any issues. However, I do have some suggestions for future updates. One idea is to add a thermometer sensor to the sock for temperature readings. Another is to incorporate feeding time reminders into the app, eliminating the need to rely on other applications. It would be convenient to have additional logs for tracking feed time duration, manual logging, the last breast side used, as well as reminders for bath times and emptying the nappy bin. These features would negate the necessity for multiple applications. Furthermore, adding Apple Watch support would be beneficial, allowing users to quickly glance at vitals, view the camera, and log feeding times. While there are other apps available, integrating these reminders and logs into one app would provide a more streamlined way to keep track of everything.
Bugs in version 2.23.2 - camera keeps on freezing
Hi, the version 2.23.2 has bugs in it. The camera keeps on freezing and then the app switches off.
Great to use and give peace of mind
Really like the owlet setup , gives you peace of mind and works well , my only problem is that the sock battery after three months of use does not last longer than 10 hours.
This leads us to plan on when to fit the sock to ensure it stays active while we sleep.
Good app
This is a good app, works well. Would love a feature to share the notifications and video feed to another user (significant other? So we both could know what is going on)
Worst baby camera money can buy
On paper the owlet sounds like an amazing product, so I purchased one from the US. Being from South Africa it cost way more to get it here than what it would usually cost. The sock seems to work well, although if your child moves it can’t take a reading.
The real issue I have is with the camera, which works exclusively with the app.
It only works about a third of the time, it constantly gives you a loading wheel and then you have to close the app and reopen and after doing that a few times you might be lucky to get some feed.
It doesn’t matter what you try, if you restart your phone, restart the app, update the app or even spend an hour with support rebooting the firmware and resyncing your WiFi connection (tried this several times) it just doesn’t work properly. It can’t work properly, it’s a faulty product.
It seems that owlet has deleted most of their low star reviews now, as they know that they have sold a very expensive faulty product with no chance of it working properly.
Avoid purchasing this camera at all costs, you can buy a cheap one for $20 that does exactly what this can’t do. Work!
