Great idea but poor software development

Diabletto on

The iPad version is absurdly slow. It got worse with time and the newer versions are worse than the earlier ones. I hope that more effort will be planned to bug resolution and software improvements

Good but improvable

Beetlebum97 on

Excellent papers manager. Highlighting and note-taking features are too simple and lack of customization options. Improve note-taking and text editing features to make it the definitive app for students and academics who want to have their papers organized and to study them efficiently

Terrible

Luigi_P on

This app is terrible, nothing to do with Papers 3 for ipad (it misses all the cool functionalities and is completely “unuser” friendly)...I don’t know how you can even call this an upgrade (if you expect us to pay 5-10 euros per month then you should do a better job!)

Major update is needed!!!!!

santorini1980 on

Big fan of papers since its first edition. I updated to ReadCube papers and patiently waited and waited but I think we have all waited for too long and we need answers from the developers. The Mac app is still in beta!!!!! The iOS although it is not in beta it still feels like it. Annotation and markings are primitive and annoying. It makes reading an article painful. Smart folders creation not present in iOS, sharing pdf disabled and that’s definitely a serious flaw. Syncing and matching definitely got better but that’s a must. You have a moral responsibility to all paper users to either update or explain what should we expect. We are paying for a long time for a program in beta.

Very basic

Fjrfvuref on

Basic interface with very few options. Tue app needs a great development tombe accettable. Useless sidebar. With difficulty it is possible to insert the annotations

Not even comparable to Papers

Daweonline on

This new iteration of Papers for iOS, this time from ReadCube, is only good to read an article but it is not meant for serious science. Support for annotations with a pen is very primitive and clumsy: when in highlight mode document pans right to left if the pen is not hold on a word. Switching to other annotation modes (free form, for example) is slow and counterintuitive. Sharing papers with collaborators is impossible in every possible way (no sharing while reading a paper, no PDF sharing). The side tab is useless and offers few operations (in Papers for iOS one could choose article options by flipping it). The only good thing is syncing with one’s library, which is the bare minimum for an application like this.

Davvero indispensabile
