It has rlly helped me practice. I play the xylophone and guitar and many more instruments and I have seen that when I’m struggling with a piece I can just take a quick photo and it will play it out for me, you can also change the tempo which is a very big benefit for me as a musician
Bad
I have recently picked up my flute again to play in a Concert Band after a 28 year break, so am obviously a little "rusty"... I was very excited to find this app as it means I can play along with my part at home as I struggle to remember what all the little black dots mean, what a # is, let alone worrying about tempo and volume! The hope is that I then wont completely embarrass myself in front of my fellow musicians, or put them off too much by coming in at the wrong place / time etc. I initially used the free version of the app, but as I wanted to upload .pdfs and gain full functionality I upgraded to the Professional version. One week in, I have found it a great help for some pieces, but for others (such as the one attached) the app ignores rest bars / misses some runs and at other times plays completely the wrong notes entirely - it may as well be me!!! I got in touch with the developers, who replied in just a few hours - the problem was with the terrible resolution on the files I’d uploaded, NOT the app. So, all-in-all, it’s a GREAT APP. See you at The Albert Hall!!!
Very simple but effective app to support learning on any instrument.
If you work with a lot of sheet music, and especially if you use XML/MIDI files, this app is excellent. Perfect for singers + musicians who need to learn music but aren’t great with sight reading, or just need to hear a quick melody line, and perfect for anyone who edits sheet music on Sibelius/Musescore etc. I’d recommend it to anyone!!
It was absolutely amazing but unfortunately it doesn't play hand written music
What a brilliant program and it’s easy to use. I use it to import xml files into Dorico and it works a treat. You will need to pay a subscription as the free version does not offer the import facility but it’s a very reasonable sub in my mind.
I have tried to adjust the transposition but for some reason it isn’t allowing me to, do you have any suggestions?
Unfortunately, I found that when translating from PDF files, this app decides to miss random notes, and in one case a while line was totally skipped for no apparent reason, even though the PDF files were pristine. I'm a choir member with very limited sight-reading skill, and had hoped this was going to live up to all the hype, but I have been sadly disappointed, and am pleased I only took out a month's subscription to try it out.
