Great app, terrible automated systems and predatory subscriptions
The app itself is great, but the janky ID verification (which only worked for me after dozens of tries) really sucks. On top of this the app will randomly claim your documents are expired, even when they aren’t. Keep in mind the app has access to the expiry date. The AI support and lack of human agents also make this hard to recommend even if the service is good. Tons of people are known to have gotten their funds frozen which wouldn’t be as much of a problem with a traditional bank due to their human agents being easily accessible. But that can’t be said for Revolut. On top of this there’s also a predatory free trial subscription model which doesn’t show clearly enough that cards and shipping costs have to be paid back should you cancel the free trial. They also don’t allow you to opt for cheaper shipping if you are on a trial or have a subscription, leading to higher charges if you decide to cancel. The “monthly” subscription is also just a yearly subscription disguised as a monthly one. In reality you’re just paying off the yearly subscription in monthly installments and will be charged a break fee if you decide to cancel. This is about two months of payments where you are not entitled to any of the benefits, seemingly existing just to scare consumers into continuing to pay. If you decide to use this app, I recommend just opting for the free version, and not putting too much money in. If you want to upgrade do your research and read the terms of the agreements you’re opting into. They aren’t hard to understand but we all know most people don’t bother reading them.
