Scientific American Reviews

Buggy and inconvenient

Kodejka on

Germany

Paid for subscription, downloaded the issue I wanted to read, yet when reading it shows the loading wheel all the time, it never goes away. I also don’t like the endless scroll. It would be nice to just turn the pages in the digital edition rather than scroll. Scrolling gives a cheap feel of a generic Medium article. The contents is good though, I don’t regret getting a subscription. The app is horrible.

Bugs

MEBSCGV on

Germany

1) There is no arrow back. Need to close and reopen app. 2) Articles don’t show when and where they will published.

Inconvenient to use and full of bugs

ReviewerBlume on

Germany

Much easier and more convenient to download the issues as pdf file from the webpage than using the App. Sometimes the App wants to charge me for issues for which I have a subscription. Sometimes downloaded issues are no longer accessible though the App still uses GB‘s of storage.

The SA then and now

N.Faber on

Germany

Scientific Magazine has changed quite a bit over the years. It was always a popular science magazine, but some 30 years ago articles were, I think, largely written by the scientists themselves and more cromprehensive but still understandable by the general public. These days articles are largely written by journalist, who specialized in science, and are much less comprehensive as they used to be. Furthermore I feel politics and feminism is taking a bit too much space.

The new version is an evolutionary dead-end...

Features and user-experience are on the level of an Australopithecus compared to the Homo Sapiens level of the previous version.

Abysmal

Jmarktanner on

This used to be a 5* app due to a really great reading experience. Now I really would like to go to a 0* rating. What on earth did you think when deciding to get rid of the beautiful HiRes pictures properly embedded into the texts, additional features and well designed design of the articles? Please "upgrade" to the old version! Meanwhile I prefer to read the PDF version of SA, not very convenient but a lot better than this.

Greatly designed and informative app

High quality articles and great interface!

Unscientific, Opinionated, Waste of Time

wiscnsnhckey on

United States

Scroll through the latest news to find nothing but shallow and biased left-wing opinion articles. Boring.

Great mag, great app…

Ubetyourlife on

Great job!

Best written, most important topics of any science magazine

energyskeptic on

United States

I get 5 science magazines, plus look at others online. Sci am has had by far the best, and often only coverage of the new $2 trillion nuclear bomb program, nuclear waste, and covered the many existential threats in addition to climate change which gets far too much attention in this polycrisis
