I have adored Solid Starts since starting solids with my oldest 3 years ago. Mealtimes with my 3.5 yr old and 1 yr old are *enjoyable*! Solid Starts guides were so helpful as a first time mom and now having it all in the app is incredible! Now 5 months into solids with my 2nd and loving the meals feature. I don’t bother to track everything, but worth every penny to upgrade to keep track of allergen introductions.
So helpful for first time moms
We paid for a subscription to Compass specifically and loved how it laid out meals each day in a week-by-week progression and had a reliable plan for introducing allergens. This new update completely gutted the daily meals and week-by-week suggested meals. So disappointing and we’ll be cancelling. We would have never of subscribed based on this new, confusing update. Hard to believe user-experience was factored in at all in the new update.
I purchased a year subscription right before they changed how Compass works and I hate it now. Would have been nice to know the product was going to change before I spent $$ on it.
I really liked the original version but the recent upgrades to compass I have found more limiting and harder to navigate. Would not have paid for the subscription for this version.
I started using the previous version about a month ago and just loved it. I liked how the meals were simple, yet the progression built on past meals and it made sense on the allergen introductions, too. About a week ago then app updated and I really despise how the changes were made. Did the developers test it? Get user feedback? Do they have children to try the new format on? I’m guessing “no” because it is more onerous to use and I’m considering changing to another program/app. I lost the meals that I logged before the change, too. Asking that previous features/functionality be brought back, especially the week by week meals.
When I’m concerned about how small or big I should be serving a certain food or if she’s ready to have a certain food raw or cooked this app has been so helpful to not only read tips but look at photos and videos. Thank you!
We are so grateful for the Solid Starts content and recommend for anyone who is teaching their baby to feed! However, a recent app update made some pretty baffling and frustrating UX changes and it’s making the app a lot less nice to use. I miss the old easily-accessible Compass and the formatting of meal/food ideas in a swipe-card layout is confusing. It took me some messing around to figure out that I was just flipping through them, not dismissing. Also “mark as done” has very unclear behavior — it would be more accurate to say “log this food.”
We used Solid Starts for our now almost 3 year old. She eats better than some adults we know!! We always knew we would use it with any future children. Our second daughter, who is now 6 months old, is on track to be another great eater. Jenny and her team teach the parent, which I think makes all the difference! We weren’t scared of choking because we understood the mechanics of it. We weren’t afraid of giving allergens because they laid out a great plan. We learned that a mess is part of the process. By learning what to expect and how to facilitate eating for our girls, they had the freedom to explore and find foods they love! This is the NUMBER 1 product I tell expecting parents to remember! Big Solid Starts fans in our house!!!
