End-to-end encrypted notes

Published by: Standard Notes

Description

Standard Notes is a private and secure end-to-end encrypted notes app. It allows you to write and sync your notes across all your devices, including your iPhone, iPad, Mac, and web browser.
Private means your notes are end-to-end encrypted, so only you can read your notes. Even we can't read the contents of your notes.
Simple means it does one job and does it well. Standard Notes is a safe and lasting place for your life's work. Our focus is making it easy to write notes wherever you are and syncing them with encryption to all your devices.
Our users love us for:

• Passcode lock protection, along with Touch ID and Face ID protection.
• A tagging system to organize your notes (like #work, #ideas, #passwords, #crypto).

Standard Notes is completely open-source, which means when we say your notes are encrypted with industry-leading XChaCha-20 encryption, and that only you can read your notes, you don't have to take our word for it. Our code is open to the world to audit.
We made Standard Notes simple because longevity is important to us. We want to make sure we're here, protecting your notes, for the next hundred years. You shouldn't have to find a new notes app every year.
To sustain our development, we offer optional paid subscriptions which give you access to powerful tools like:
• Productivity editors (like Markdown, Code, Spreadsheets)
• Beautiful themes (like Midnight, Focus, Solarized Dark)
• Powerful cloud tools including daily backups of your encrypted data delivered to your email inbox every day, or backed up to your cloud provider (like Dropbox and Google Drive).

Standard Notes Reviews

2 things

Dobrè McStain on

Australia

A proper - keyword "proper" - undo button/option would be nice .. well kinda a basic necessity really. Also, there are 2 bugs; one which causes the App to freeze indefinitely, the other which makes the App take SMS Codes and give the option to insert ... a bit odd really? Otherwise I'm happy!

Notes deleted

MariaQLD on

Australia

Seems like old notes are automatically deleted in free version but no warning is given that this happens. I was contemplating paying for the service to use the extra features but definitely not going to happen now.

Cannot create an account/sign-in

Ben T Daniel on

Australia

When trying to create an account it just says “Creating…” but doesn’t progress beyond that. Similar experience with logging in. Very disappointing.

Can’t login anymore

nopnup on

Australia

Enabled 2FA and now it just freezes when I login when I get to entering the TOTP code. Never loads. No error message. Uninstall reinstall nothing fixes it

Worst app. Blanks all notes

PreciousPri on

Australia

I have got worst experience with this app. After entering the passcode it doesn't open anything. All I see is blank . It seems to have wiped out all my secure notes . Even after updating the app, I don't see any single note be it secured with passcode not. I need to uninstall this app and look for other options.

Please update for iPhone 14 (5/5)

This app is great, syncs across platforms! I use it across my 2 PCs and iPhone)

Buggy

pedriceroburilero on

Australia

It does have several bugs that need to be fixed; inability to view in normal view to login into a password protected note; unable to toggle off a note for which editing is disabled. The support team are very responsive and helpful but the fixes take a long time to be implemented by the devs. The first bug J described above came up again after a fix was implemented by the development team, so in frustration I decided to delete the app.
