Swiftfin FAQ
Is Swiftfin free?
Yes, Swiftfin is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Swiftfin legit?
🤔 The Swiftfin app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
Great app! Thank you, developers, for your great work!
However, no end user cares that this is written in Swift; and being that we’re on iOS, having that as part of the name is silly.
Please rename the app “Jellyfin” or “Jellyfin V” or “Jellyfin Video” (since there seems to be a completely separate app for music).
Thanks for listening!
Can’t locate servers
Neat idea but poorly implemented. Can’t find the server on a network that other apps have no problem accessing.
Better than the main JF app, but flawed
I find this app to be better than the main Jellyfin application; it is generally more stable, and works more efficiently, and has a more usable interface. I was happy to see an update to it today (June 11) but now it doesn’t see my local JF server at all. The main app still works, implying that something has been broken in this new update regarding server discovery.
Limitations
Why is there an option to change audio type but not video quality? App is very nice, but the player is much too simplified in my opinion; it doesn’t really take advantage of what Jellyfin has to offer.
Dev hasn’t updated app
Gesture bar doesn’t go away when playing video. This is a problem when watching in a dark room. This was fixed on GitHub in late 2023, but the dev hasn’t updated the App Store version.
Works OK. No DTS 7.1, Atmos or Dolby Vison. Video issues on new Apple TV 4K
This app needs some work. Will not play video unless experimental force direct play is turned on. If this is off, video resolution looks terrible, if it even plays. I have a brand new Apple TV 4K red generation running latest tvOS. This app does not play tru-hd 7.1, Atmos or Dolby vision. If the movie is in 7.1 you will hear no sound. Must change to 5.1 format. Also don’t have your Apple TV set to Dolby vision. If you do, this app will not work correctly and colors will be messed up. Make sure your Apple TV is set to 4K SDR. Would be nice to have ability to add folders without having to go into media and then my folder. Add this to the home screen
Tried the Infuse Player by another developer and it works with all the above without any issues. Only give this app two stars because it’s free. Hoping you can fix the issues mentioned above
app was great!
keyword was! newest updated locked all my users out of the app :(
Fantastic app
This application is great. It works well on my iPad and on my iPhone, but when I use my HomePods on an Apple TV 4K the audio syncing is off just like one of the other reviewer said so hopefully that will be fixed in the future… other than that, it is an amazing app.
Thanks Devs!
I love the Jellyfin community! I’ve been using the software for a long time and am really impressed. This app has a clean UI and feels very smooth. Note for other users; this app is in beta. I’d download the main Jellyfin app to get the complete feature set
Does not work
Can't find local server. Update this it's been over a year.
