Misleading sales techniques

Lk4824 on

I was interested in trying this app, I was quoted $65/week paid monthly ($260). I understand that AI would be used but as someone who has worked in high tech I was still willing to try it. The “matching agent” asked me a few questions and then said they had therapists for me to choose from but FIRST I had to pay the subscription fee... sketchy so I closed the app knowing the next time I joined they would offer me something to try and get me to sign up. Sure enough the next time I signed up they gave me a list of “therapists”. I chose one that I wasn’t sure about so I didn’t continue to pay. I opened up the app the up again and they offered me therapists again, I didn’t choose one because I saw I had a message from the “matching agent” that I wanted to read first. It was a useless message and when I went to look for the list of therapists to choose it was gone. I asked the “matching agent” about it and I was answered that I had to pay to see my options. I explained that wasn’t true as I had been offered to see them twice already. I spoke to customer service and they said it was a mistake I was allowed to see the therapists... that is nonsense because it is a common sales tactic to offer something to try and hook the sale. Anyway, misleading slaked techniques. You don’t pay through apple, you have to put your CC details in, this is what I would consider a scam and I wouldn’t trust them because their sales techniques are sketchy and there are lots of bugs in their AI. For $65 a week you deserve an honest product.

I’m in college and I don’t have the time (or the $$ really) to go see a therapist a few times a month. The stress from school has made my anxiety worse, and this helps me deal with it in real time. If I’m freaking out about something I text my therapist and she gets back to me - not immediately, but soon. Typing out what I’m feeling and knowing I’ll have an answer from her soon is really calming and comforting. I just told one of my roommates about it and I think she’s going to sign up too. I’m leaving a review because I hope other people try it too! I think it’s great for people my age. We’re all on our phones all the time anyway ;) people will just think you’re texting and will never know you’re talking to your therapist! Haha.

Yes, as some people have said, it can take a few hours to get a response from your therapist. To me, that’s still better than waiting to talk to my therapist every Friday. By then, I’ve probably forgotten what was bothering me anyway or I don’t want to bring it up again. I like that this is more in the moment. I feel like I have support in my day-to-day. I gave four stars instead of five because I do wish there was a way to video-conference sometimes. I mentioned it to my therapist and he said we could do one Skype session, but if we did it regularly, it would cost more. I get it. It’s still helping me a ton so I don’t mind that it’s not perfect. Regular therapy isn’t either. Still really helpful.

Give it time! It's worth it!

I will admit it was a bit of a rough start. The ‘consultation’ part dragged, with the person I was talking to not willing to start the consultation until I put money down. Fortunately, I had already done my research and decided to try the service, so I was willing to “pay to play.” She also gave me a coupon code for a free week, which was nice. Still, if I had been on the fence, I don’t know if I would have signed up. My advice to people is, just try it. Once I did the consultation and was placed with my personal therapist, I felt much better. My personal therapist is awesome. He sometimes takes a while to answer me, which was hard to adjust to at first, but his answers to me are very thought out. So it’s good he’s taking so much time to think before responding. It’s been a month and I’m really liking having someone in my pocket who is always willing to listen, if nothing else. I take one star away for the beginning part before I was matched to my therapist. They need to train those people better. Not a deal breaker though. Keep going and you will love it like I do!
