Use it everyday! Love it.
2018 version was way better with the high volume sweet spot plan, from which I gained 50w of ftp in 12 weeks. App seems fussy too and needs to be deleted and reinstalled every week it seems. Value isn’t there anymore but it’s worth the $22 bc the workouts are still good. Always looking for another option though.
Been using TR over the years, but the newer AI/machine learning features really make a huge difference. Particularly for older riders such as myself. The workouts are consistently challenging but do-able, and it's fun to watch yourself improve over time. And if life gets in the way of your training, TR adapts your future workouts accordingly. Highly recommend!
Have had the TR resource since about there inception. They have every workout imaginable as well as structured training for events. I use structured workouts connected to Garmin as well, and that’s awesome for those days you’re on your own and you want to get something done outside. It just works, always. Easily connects to Bluetooth, my devices never drop and I track my progress via traineroad calendar. Will keep my subscription forever.
I have been using TR for a year plus now. To build and to improve my overall fitness for rolling hills group rides. Then I got ambitious and used the Century plan. And achieved my first road century with 6k of climbing. At 59 years old! Kept training…Then got more ambitious and when for a gravel ride (D2R2 in Deerfield CT). Finished 65 miles with 6k elevation. Woohoo. Kept training ( and listening to the podcast)Then I got more ambitious and raced for the first time ever. Two New Haven cyclocross events. Thank you Trainer Rode for my best cycling year ever. 2024 rock for this female middle aged cyclist. No limits!!
Switched to this from Zwift and I’ll never go back. So easy to use and it actually works. Ditch the video game Zwift tried to make and train for real.
I had a terrible first experience using it during setup. You need to ride as hard as you can for as long as you can to establish a baseline. After about 10 minutes, the app crashed and closed. I did not feel like going through that effort of max power riding again. I waited a couple of days and tried the app without the initial test and there were just a list of rides and no interface like zwift or wahoo for the rides. It was just a boring screen. I was looking to replace zwift because of a bug that zwift has which reports to health the wrong distance road, but this doesnt come close to that kind of experience. And it crashed on first usage. Btw…watch the short trial period - I didnt realize and cancelled a day after it charged me for another month. Trial is only a few days.
Been a user for 4 years. Based on time available and budget, paying a coach doesn’t really work for me. AI functionality makes it really easy to structure my training and do well at my goal events. When my consistency is high and I fuel/recover properly, TrainerRoad has made me faster every time.
Six months into TrainerRoad, I’m definitely a much faster cyclist and enjoying longer, more challenging rides just a year into getting back on the bike.
