Don’t verify if you’re non Chinese

Verification is useless. Alipay makes it seem like it’s necessary to use a foreign card or to recharge balance, but it still won’t let you if you don’t have a Chinese issued card.

Not for foreigners

This app doesn’t allow foreigners to pay, it’s only for Chinese citizens.

When it works it works, when it doesn’t it is a nightmare

It worked for 2 weeks. And all in a sudden my transaction was prohibited because it detected some “suspicious transactions” and I was required to upload proof to verify a bank card which didn’t even belong to me. I uploaded the photo of my ID and the bank card bonded in my account, and was rejected. Alipay again asked me to upload proof for that stranger’s card number. I contacted customer services twice. They helped me to upload again. Alipay again insisted on asking me to upload proof for that stranger’s card number twice. I’m going to ditch Alipay. But still deeply worried about the security of all my information Alipay has had. It may keep them forever and even sell them to other companies, like Ctrip.

我注册或者登陆账号要用中文环境，然后添加银行卡又要英文环境才能通过“安全验证”。最后支付的时候一直提示支付失败

Good app

Contrary to some previous reviews: this app is fairly well translated in English and is not just for Chinese. Furthermore it works anywhere Alipay is accepted, such as at a Bubble Tea shop in Toronto and many other places in the world. It is intuitive to use and works flawlessly in payments. It is also very useful for shopping online at Chinese websites.

Only works with folks who has Chinese National ID Card

This App should be removed from the global App Store completely if the it requires a photo verification of the Chinese National ID Card to operate. It is sad to see a great application going downhill so rapidly.

Worked great with my foreign credit card.

Bonded my foreign card to it before leaving for China. Worked great everywhere we went. Extremely convenient for shopping, taking the metro, taxi etc. Only problem was in Beijing where the metro card didn't work with a foreign phone number. Had to get a physical Beijing metro card which we could pay for using Alipay.

Not working for the foreigner

As a foreigner, I am so frustrated with Ali pay. I got a local mobile phone number and a Chinese bank account. When I try to bond Ali pay with my Chinese bank account. It asked me my bank for verification. I give all correct information and it failed always. I tried to register my self from Ali pay web site and it refer my back to this app. This is such A STUPID app. It never considered the foreigner users. All the instructions are useless because it lead you nowhere even you follow them step by step. Sad thing is you need Ali pay or WeChat pay almost everywhere.
