Transcoding error
The current version on iOS of BBC Sounds transcodes the stream from 48kHz sampling to 44.1kHz sampling when playing to a wired USB external DAC. I suspect it is a software bug that blindly interprets the connection as AirPlay which defaults to 44.1kHz. I encourage BBC, known for stepping up to the highest sound quality, to preserve its streaming sampling when playing via wired USB.
Great content - no longer accessible via cellular data?
One of my favorite apps. But suddenly I can only access content via WiFi. Yes, access to cellular data is enabled. I have reinstalled the app, still a problem. This is obviously very inconvenient - please address this.
Excellent + Transformative
Wonderful to have access to Radio 3 wherever I go throughout the day!
Content is great but app isn’t
The material you can listen to is phenomenal, something for just about everyone.
The app is miserable however. Adding items to the queue or listening list requires multiple clicks/taps.
Playing the queue is a pain, seeing the queue is a pain, rearranging the queue is a pain.
Subscribing to a show doesn’t automatically add items to the queue. When new episodes come out it doesn’t get added to the queue.
But again, the content is great, so sad that the app is bad.
If I was ranking the app itself, it would be 1 star.
Account required
I wish I could still use the app to listen to broadcasts without a BBC account
Many Podcasts unavailable outside USA
The Podcasts that are available to listen to within the United States are excellent! However, there is no filter allowing you to identify which Podcasts are not available. So, you simply have to make multiple attempts to listen to various programs in order to learn if you are permitted to hear the content. Quite frustrating!
BBC
Simply the best!
Dead Ringers
Great comedy about recent events.
Material
You could update your library more frequently. There must lots of choices in your archives.
COMMIT TO FREENESS!
To the BRAINDEAD executives at BBC Sounds who put a stop to FREENESS, YOU are clueless and need to get out of the media business all together!
FREENESS is the only content on your site worth paying for! The rest is a waste of time, below mediocre at best!!!
