CNN: Breaking US & World News

Not only requires the update OS16, which iphones from 5 years ago not have. Even worse there old app does not work, demands the update, which can’t on OS15.xx Which makes the old app and thus CNN for millions of users around the world unusable. Large part of world citizens do not have the means to buy new phones. As long as a phone has basic functionality they will keep it. It is worrisome that CNN very often reports and thus make money of those people with less means, rights and possibilities, and it are those people who CNN makes it impossible for them to get the CNNnews. That is against everything CNN says to stand for and delivers only for those who have money enough and excluding the poor. Technically there is no objection what so ever to let the CNN app work on older phones. To conclude that it is CNN intent to exclude people.

The app has been a disastrous experience over the last few years. Videos stop playing haphazardly, won’t play at all, the wrong video plays when tapping a link, and now, with the latest update, (some) videos make the app crash (on 15 Pro). And not just videos; even reading a plain text article regularly results in spontaneous app crashes. There’s no pattern, just frequent crashes. How difficult is it to hire a couple of professional app developers? And then, just before you release a new version of your app, have the app TESTED by professional testers and regular users? A single star, for effort, and that’s being generous…

I deleted this app because it blocks all the important news and videos due to my location.👎It’s a shame!

For preferences I choose international news, but then every story says it’s blocked due to my location, I live in the Netherlands. Not a world news outlet after all

Change change change while you still have a chance!!!! You are being beaten and run over from all sides. First off: make this UI/UX top of the line : world class. What you have now is very very bad.

Is it really necessary to use outbrain to promote the most rediculous, idiotic and deceptive lies in advertising? Its a disgusting smear on your image.

Got the app working again but completely removing the app from my iPhone and reinstalling it. This is the second time I needed to use this approach. The catastrophic effect of this route is that, even as a registered user who’s logged in, you lose all saved/bookmarked content. All interesting stories, stuff you want to read later, etc. is gone. What ever happened to iCloud? Why not have a bookmark collection for registered (and logged in) users? Apart from this utterly annoying lack of user support, the app also shows several other unpleasantries: articles scroll way past their textual end, videos not playing, changing to landscape often leaves the app and video in portrait mode, share button only works when it feels like it, etc., etc. How difficult is it to build a properly working iOS app? The single star given is two too many…
