E-TUBE PROJECT Cyclist Reviews

The don’t know how to do apps for sure

kraxzq on

While I didn’t yet play with the app as waiting for registration email instantly I know they don’t know how to make apps - nice apps. Typical corpo buttons, layout, web form fields etc but interestingly my secure generated password was rejected as only alphanumeric allowed - so clearly the don’t know security either.

No offline setup

Currychip on

Ireland

The new App looks a bit slicker, and seems to have a few extra functions. But it has also lost the offline Di2 Synchronised/Semi-Synchronised setup. Now I have to sit beside my bike instead of in the comfort of my living room to adjust a gearing profile. I hope this lost feature comes back in future iterations.

What a joke

Open app. Connect to Di2. App prompts a firmware update. Promptly crashes mid update and bricks my di2. Thanks Shimano. Steer well clear.

UGH!!!!

This app is the Bain of my existence! It rarely connects and even then is painful to use. Also, why have it separated from E-TUBE Ride? I can always connect to that worthless app, but it has no functionality other than recording a ride, which is of little importance since that basic functionality is EVERYwhere. I want to be able to quickly connect to my bikes - every single time - be able to easily make adjustments and updates, and see analysis. How hard is this?!??

After thought of an app

Difficult to connect: sometimes it connects easily, sometimes it doesn’t. Plus it’s only one button on the derailleurs so if you struggle to connect and push it repeatedly, you can accidentally change modes. Also the most prominent thing should be battery health. It’s also just 5 simple green bars for the derailleurs and a single green light for the shifters. And passing along a warning: my LBS made it very clear to not try updating via the app. They get back bricked bikes all the time from people trying.

Slow and Caused E203 error!

Capt. Gizmo on

All takes way too long to connect. But then, after the update a few months ago, it produced an E203 error on my 801 that can’t be cleared! 😡

Change the app name please!

It is nearly impossible to find this app by searching your phone if you have it installed. I have to go to the App Store every time I need it because the name is so bad. Try searching “di2” or “Shimano” no results. Why would I remember it is called e-tube?

Allow to connect to Apple Watch Workouts

DirtyJ375 on

United States

I use this app to update the Shimano components on my MTB, and to make power adjustments. It works well for that, however I would like to see integration for Apple Watch Workouts pushed to my bike. With watchOS one can connect via Bluetooth to “health devices” under Settings>Bluetooth>Health Devices, but my MTB does not show up. It would be sweet if this integration was added so it would link to outdoor cycle workout, and so all of my exercise info is in one place - the Health app on iOS.

Not sure why reviews are so bad

Beans3344 on

I don’t get why this app is rated so poorly. One quick YouTube video and i was able to navigate the app and everything worked perfectly as advertised. Ultegra Di2 is my first electric group and it’s super impressive the way you can customize everything to your liking.

Doesn’t work, plain and simple. If you can actually login and have it find your bike, then you’re a wizard, Harry. UI. -1000/10 UX. -5000/10 Instructions. Written by a Sumerian in 3500BC Imagine spending $3k on a groupset and the accompanying app is engineered and designed by a middle school detention class as punishment. Doesn’t work. Can’t login. Can’t find bike. Irritating loops. Written in Hieroglyphics.
