Editorial is a plain text editor for iOS with powerful automation tools and a beautiful inline preview for Markdown, TaskPaper, and Fountain documents.
Features:
* Inline Markdown/Fountain Preview – With Editorial's subtle syntax highlighting, you can see your document's formatting immediately while you're writing. And when you need a full HTML preview, it's just a swipe away.
* Extensible with Workflows and Scripts – Select from over 50 text processing actions to create your own workflows for extending Editorial's feature set. For even more advanced automation, you can write Python scripts with an integrated code and UI editor.
* Dropbox Sync – The sync folder is customizable, so you can easily edit your documents with multiple apps.
* Smart Keyboard – The extended keyboard was specifically designed for writing Markdown and includes all the special characters you need. You can also control the cursor with simple swipe gestures.
* Snippets – Quickly insert frequently-used pieces of text by typing abbreviations. Snippets can include dynamic text, e.g. the current date or clipboard contents. TextExpander™ snippets are also supported.
* In-App Browser – If you need to do some quick research while writing, you don't have to leave the app for that. You can even open multiple tabs.
* "Folding" allows you to quickly hide individual sections of your document while you're writing.

Editorial FAQ
Is Editorial free?
Yes, Editorial is completely free and it doesn't have any in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Is Editorial legit?
🤔 The Editorial app's quality is mixed. Some users are satisfied, while others report issues. Consider reading individual reviews for more context.
I’ve been using this app for years and it’s one of the most complete writing apps out there. The built in preview is awesome too.
It’s just a a fantastic tool for getting your thoughts out of your brain. Thank you to the devs!!!
Brilliant!
I love this app. I use it almost every day and it does exactly what I want. It’s such a shame it hasn’t been updated. I’m dreading the day when it stops working after an iOS/iPadOS update.
Solid update to an already great app
If you work with text or multi-markdown then Editorial should be on your iPhone or iPad. One of the classic ios apps that everyone should have - like Dark Side of the Moon on vinyl.
No Longer — A Bit disappointing, now really quite good.
Having written a critical review of Editorial a few years back I’d like to take it all back and now say what a great app this has become. All my previous gripes have been addressed. The only minus for me still is a lack of iCloud sync, I’m not a big fan of Dropbox but it seems to work ok.
The Markdown editor space is a crowded one. I seem to have so many scattered about machines but I can see Editorial will be up there and retain it’s place on my increasingly full machine.

Original review:
Had high hopes for Editorial, however, text flys off top of screen when typing, so you can no longer see it to write, turning ipad vertically helps but still difficult, difficulty in naming and saving documents, markdown edits not refreshing nor showing correct preview. It’s hard work to achieve very little. I was going to purchase Pythonista too but not bothering now.
Looks like this project has issues with iOS 12 and not been sufficiently updated, another purchase for the bin. Why can’t the App Store do trials and we would all save some time and money.
Good enough
That’s it I wouldn’t be running to get this app. Good if you want seamless integration with dropbox, but hold up if you want to be able to save your files with your Pythonista projects. Nope you won’t be able to. So I’ll just go and use Pythonista for that, which should have a markdown viewer that would make that app even better. Your Pythonista app is great and does what it says. This app meh.
1 or 5 star?
The best markdown/ taskpaper iOS app
(I’ve tried so many)
The good

Shortcuts on iPhone are great

The very best iOS taskpaper client
Scriptable

no access to the iCloud Drive
No real updates. developer doesn’t seem to respond
I hope it gets sold rather than abondoned.
A good app but needs iCloud support
This is a good app with a very nice editing experience. The file management side needs a little work though. It has Dropbox and on phone storage - no iCloud option. If it had iCloud support I would give it 5 stars - lack of iCloud support is something so major I have knocked 2 stars off.
Useful
Really useful for managing tasks. Would be good if the headings had a strike through once all tasks in it are completed
Fantastic productivity tool
I have been using this for several years now on iPhone and iPad. It is the one editor I always come back to (having tried several others. It fits so well into my workflows via the dropbox integration. On my desktop PC I use emacs org-mode, but these files are available and searchable on my phone in editorial - which is a massive feature for me (thank you for introducing that as it wasn’t in the early versions I don’t think). This is one app I could not live without.
Feature request: add beading/sub-heading folding for org-mode files (it’s so similar to markdown, just treat * as if it was #)
Perfect
Easy to use, well designed and rock solid app. Markdown support is very nicely done. Basic text editing is very straightforward; more powerful features are not far away but don’t clutter the main interface. Dropbox support works as you would expect.
