You are the expense

Never in my life have I have to use an expense app where I get paid less than I actually spend due to supposed app limitations in properly converting currency payments

Loses receipts, cannot be relied on

This use to be a great app. Unfortunately about 6 months or so ago Expensify “upgraded” it and for over half a year it would regularly log you out, usually losing receipts in the process. Plenty of other people report the same issue. I have had an extensive conversation with support, but after many months and trying all their suggestions, all they state is that it is been “actively looked into”, and that was the status for months. Despite causing data loss, they were apparently not treating it with any kind of urgency. They then replied to this review claiming that the bug was fixed when it was still happening and their support team denied it had been fixed! I have absolutely no idea why the reply to this review claims it was fixed, but their bug reporting and tracking is clearly badly flawed which is not a good position for a company we are essentially trusting with our personal money (if Expensify loses a receipt the end result is I personally won’t be reimbursed for that money). The new login system remains pretty awful and is both slower and less secure than the old login system. Update, May 2024: They have now somehow managed to make their authentication journey even worse by enforcing the use of TOTP MFA, even if you’re already using a more secure authentication. I’m honestly completely shocked at their complete inability to actually modernise and secure expensify’s login methods. Why on earth are they wasting time deploying unnecessary things that haven’t been considered best practice in the authorization industry for well over 5 years? Expensify need to bring back a focus on their main product and keeping end users of their main product happy.

I was happy for years, until I tried to cancel.

I was a very happy user of Expensify for many years. I no longer needed it to cancelled. Expensify implement ‘dark patterns’ in the cancellation process to mislead users into not fully cancelling their subscription. This is a very distasteful way to engage with users and turned me from a fan who might return to someone who never wants to engage with the business or anyone involved with them.

WARNING THEY STOPPING ALL FREE PLANS

Don’t waste your time starting this up if you are waiting to use the free plan as they will be charging by the end of June. They still advertise this as free even though they know it won’t be for much longer so people waste their time uploading all their info in the hope that they’ll just pay up after spending so much time on the set up.

Ok App but stuck in the iOS past

Please add support for the Files app, Please add support for letting other apps send you things via standard protocols Have a bit more convenience built in And the loading/progress indicators are wonky. App should be tested on slow internet connections more often

Great

Been using this app for years works well saves sending in paper Receipts to the office would recommend.

Could be better

The app does what you need however the process is not seamless and extremely time consuming. I’ve changed to another now because you should be able to mutliselect expense when doing a report instead of selecting one by one. Like I said could do with improvement

US or AUD

Couldn't get bast country drop down box only had United States and Australia, this may be ok for my colonial cousin. But unfortunately my imperial tendency made me remove the app

No longer works with safari

Used to love it , now I can’t use it in my laptop . Advice was to download chrome which I don’t want to do

Great app but

This app is great. There’s a few things that for me would make it better. You can only export 500 expenses which sound a lot however I’m a sole trader and use it to track my expenditure so at the end of every tax year I can export an .csv I have to do it in two to three parts. The other think for me is to add more credit cards. These seem to be only available in the US not U.K. other than that great.
