Not worth it
Continually
The content is fine. The problem is the app itself, which for over a month repeatedly freezes and fails to load, and is therefore practically unusable. When I reported this I promptly received a reply, and have subsequently exchanged many emails, only to be told it is a known issue and asking for my patience. I have asked for details of the issue known to them, to compare with my experience, and asked when they plan to fix it, but no further help or information has been provided. I don’t find this a professional approach to customer service.
The app is quite glitchy, it won't let me comment on things and the display will often break
Great most of the time, except for the consistent bugs including randomly reloading, comments sections not being usable due to app thinking I'm not logged in, and general glitchiness. 3/5 these bugs shoulder not be consistent over a two year period.
Always on point
Would be acceptable if this was a free app. But it costs a bomb and doesn’t work.
That used to be possible as a “beta” feature but seems to have disappeared.
The content and the journalism is amazing. The app itself is solid but it feels like it has stagnated. For example, the app still doesn’t have an automatic dark mode. Dark mode has been hidden away in the experimental folder for years! The vast majority of apps (especially reading heavy) do support this. Also it would be better if there was a proper offline mode where you have the option of saving articles fully - at the moment it is text only and you can lose images / graphics (often making the long read articles you’d want to save offline for a flight unreadable). Optimising offline articles for a long haul flight experience without internet seems like an obvious thing to prioritise consider the FT’s audience…
