The app is fine, but why is there no widget that I can add to my home screen? I'd like to be able to customise which devices appear in this widget, and then quickly turn devices on or off without having to open the full app.

Unable to switch between all lighting modes. Basically you can control the dimming function and change colour but if you change to a colour you can’t change back to the white mode. I mean the bright white mode. I don’t mean make the light desaturated from a colour which is technically white but it’s not bright. A lot of lights have a separate white mode and that is what I am talking about. Can’t change to any of your scene modes like music, changing colours, etc. navigating the app to separate lights is really annoying because the hold function to go into the light is too slow. Lastly I can’t add family members because their Google account is from another country. My partner visits me from another country and I want her to be able to change the light without having to get another Google account. Works better than the Apple home app so it’s not a complete waste of time. Just needs some quality of life improvements and also I don’t know if this is Google or Apple but you can’t add a widget for this app to your Home Screen on iPhone. I feel like a widget would be nice.

Ridiculous. My WiFi gets upgraded and I can no longer connect to the google nest. Why do people not test for backward and forward compatibility. Being forced to upgrade is very annoying and frustrating.

Today I’m unable to view any history on my Nest Cams in the Google Home app. All I see is spinning circles on every clip and the preview screen. This from the same cameras that I used to be able to scrobble through a full 24hrs on back when it was on the Nest app. The software experience since moving to the Google Home app can only be described as SHOCKING!  The camera sits just feet away from my Google WiFi routers. It’s got to the point now when I feel I need to ditch all my Google owned items. I have ZERO faith in them delivering a solid working product. It’s impossible to take them seriously anymore. I seriously advise anyone thinking of investing into a Google EcoSystem to stay clear!

We in the UK had the same Assistant voices for years. You recently just decided to randomly change them, without even the most fleeting consideration of the fact that we *get attached to these voices*. Even though we know they’re not real people. 

You replaced the charming and upbeat UK Male voice with this angry and depressed-sounding London “geezer” voice that absolutely everyone hates. You didn’t even bother to give us the OPTION of keeping the former voice. WHY?! 

I then found out via Reddit that you did the EXACT SAME THING to a dozen other languages. 

This is Microsoft-level behaviour, where the attitude is “To hell with the customer; we know better”. 

WE. PAY. FOR. THIS. STUFF. We have rights. 

I’ll be ditching my Google Nest device shortly as your business model is clearly not customer-focused.

I’m thinking of moving to the Google ecosystem for all my devices but a few things holding me back - one is when going to bed I like to listen to music to drift of to sleep so I tried to set a sleep timer when I asked Google assistant to stop playing music in one hour it just stops the music dead - I’m looking to stop music in one hour but it can’t seem to do this it might sound small but it a big thing for me at present I’m gonna have to stay with my HomePod and stay in the iOS ecosystem.

But oh, plot twist i have to have wifi to do that but i cant connect to wifi as i just said. So many Google apps (nest, home etc) it’s confusing to know what each one is. Plus the lag in the Hey Google response is poor and there seems to be very little development in the product, eg ‘Read me a bedtime story’ is the same 8 stories for years. Even if there are developers then you’d never know because it’s rarely ‘did you know…’

Ok I have a lot of Nest devices and Google Nest Devices so need this App to control them. However the Presence Sensing will not work on a iPhone and family members how have Google phones finding issues with the Presence Sensing. So in effect that has stopped my Smart home from being Smart. When everyone leaves the Presence Sensing will not work and set controls like heating to Eco Mode. I manually override the system setting it to Away, Then Google Home overrides me saying someone home and yet the house is empty. So as a result turns heating back on. So now this is costing me increased heating bills, creating unnecessarily impact to the environment. I have tried everything fix I can think of and read many Google forums and it seams this has effected many people like my self. I will replace all my Google Products when I can afford to because of this.

Controlling google home devices is slow and counterintuitive. On my google neat home hub screen devices The overview screen says device is playing music and the product specific page says it’s idle. 
Nest thermostat takes forever to respond.
Ditched my nest doorbell due to being slower than a dead sloth. 
Google just don’t care.

I held off migrating all my best devices to allow time for the product to settle. 

It didn’t matter. It’s basically unusable now.

I have a 1 gbps upload and download WiFi at home and work. Plus strong 5G WiFi at work. 

It doesn’t matter though because the endless buffering when trying to use any cameras makes it unusable. If someone presses my nest doorbell I will not see an image for at least a minute or until it times out. Then when I try to go back to view the footage the doorbell footage of someone arriving and pressing the doorbell (that event) is not available until ages after the event.

They have increased the prices. Essentially harassed us to move to Google home, and clearly it has terrible product management backing it, and the latency from the backend is so bad by modern standards it must have been hacked together. 

Google have focused on profits yet again, customer experience be damned. The company is in a spiral. 

We trusted you. We let you into our homes. We paid your over inflation price increases, even when the cost of storage and compute have come down.  

You have let us down.

This app is very half baked when it comes to using my Nest Hello Doorbell and 3rd Gen Nest Thermostat. With the doorbell you can’t scroll through continuous footage like you can on the Nest app, which was one of the biggest selling points for me, as not many doorbells do that, including the new nest doorbell! 😱🤦‍♂️ and since the new doorbell has to use this app, it’s put me off buying one all together.  With the thermostat you can’t even set a schedule on this app. No wonder it’s always telling me to use the nest app. Settings pages are very inconsistent too, with two settings pages in different places and not all the settings were there like in the nest app (very confusing). So I beg you Google, if you insist on forces use to use this one app for everything (which I admit it’s nice to have everything in one place), please make it even half as good as the Nest app!!!
