Download the app and click the ‘Register’ button on the login page.

Alternatively, you can register online at www.greatsouthernbank.com.au/ob-register, call us on 133 282 or drop into your local branch.

If you’re already registered for digital banking, simply download the Great Southern Bank Mobile Banking app and you’re ready to go. The first time you log in you’ll need your existing Great Southern Bank customer number and password. After that, you can save your details securely.

It’s an ok app. The only very big downside is that I cannot name the accounts. I have savings accounts for the kids and have to go into each account to see which one it is. This is super annoying when trying to transfer money between accounts. Very frustrating. Please change to allow naming accounts!!!

App constantly dropping me out. Saying that there is issues try again later. Doesnt remember me and when I tried to set up finger print login froze. Had to delete and reinstall. Was a good app but latest version full of bugs

Works well - most of the time

It works well most of the time. I’ve been having issues making payments that relate to GSB’s back end systems. I think they are using unsupervised AI to “vet” transactions which has caused me way more problems than the scams this is supposed to prevent. The other day they locked my out of my account entirely after I made a bpay. I’ve had multiple payid payments just disappear after being vetted by the AI and require manual reversal. Ridiculous. In terms of the app: It would be good if I could delete payees off my list since some are no longer relevant. It would also be helpful to download or view statements.

*Update* Finally seems to be working again. Thanks for the fix. Keeps saying error and have to log back in. Deleted and reinstalled but still glitchy. Annoying!

Love the simplicity and the apps ability to do most of the basic stuff other banks have. What this app really need to improve on the one thing that other review before me have been saying, which is an instant push notification feature from the app. We should get an alert on all activity we have in our bank accounts. I understand this can be done through “notification setting” on the webpage but, even then, I have not been able to get it to sms or email me anything. The web page froze every time I tried to make this particular change; when the page doesn’t freeze it doesn’t saved my changes instead. But either way, I am not talking sms or email notification, I would love an instant push notification from the app itself to alert me of all transaction in my account whether it’s payment made by my physical debit card or digital wallet or scheduled transfer or payment made online or direct debit or some unknown third party that are suspicious. I want to be able to keep track of all my out going and incoming. I understand it can’t be “instant” due to various factors, e.g. internet connection etc, but knowing where my money is at all time gives that piece of mine.

Overall pretty happy with how the app works it’s a good simple layout and easy to use. However other banks have a lot more functions in their app, the one thing I’d really like to do is edit my payments and ongoing bpays. This is a function on the webpage so why not the app? I don’t like using the webpage I have trouble logging in every time I use it and I should be able to do everything in the app. I’ve read a few of the latest reviews and they all seem to be saying the same thing works great but a bit basic. I’m not fussed on the push notifications thing so please make that something that can be turned off, I know when I spend money I don’t need to be told I have as well. Thanks.

Every time I need to use this app I want to switch banks. The irony is that their business banking app is okay, so they can make a good app if they want to. Just direct that energy toward your regular customers.

Needs serious rework

This is probably one of the worst banking apps in Australia. It doesn’t work with the new iPhone screen design, so elements of the app go off the screen. It doesn’t save any login details correctly, so you have to do a full log out and log back in to get access - despite having Face ID turned on it will always have an error when logging in. The app is so bad I am closing my accounts to get away from it.

It’s ok but still needs some work

Very clean and straightforward app, for the most part does everything you need, however just some feedback… You should be able to reorder your accounts on the accounts screen, I would like my main account to be at the top not at the bottom (Main account was opened last) and it would be nice to turn off the vault if that’s not a feature you want to use. It needs push notifications from the App itself, SMS notifications sometimes come through hours late and sometimes not at all especially when travelling so it would be nice to get these from the app itself. The app itself is cropped badly on iPhone with the camera notch up top in the way and cuts off some of the app, Hard to close the side menu as the X button is sitting up with the battery icon. The swipe home button on the bottom interferes with the app buttons on the bottom, The accounts/pay/cards buttons needs to sit a little higher. It doesn’t feel very polished and reading other reviews seems to be a common complaint, other apps don’t seem to have this issue. Fix all these and it would be a great straightforward easy to use app!
