When i first used it it had this weird bug of deleting the background everytime I’d erase a drawing. I quit because of it.

a few years later; now it doesnt have the bug anymore when i checked again? Wouldve been nice to know before dumping £20.00 into procreate dreams but now im commited.

As an animator, this app has everything you need and nothing you don’t. All the tools and features are places that make sense, like a previous reviewer said, nothing gets in your way. 

Everything this app has just makes frame by frame animation simple and seamless. I’ve tried a lot of animation programs, both free and paid, including Procreate Dreams, and I have always preferred this one. (I used Procreate Dreams, about 4x the price, ONCE and went back to rough animator haha) 

For the price it’s a massive steal!!!! and if you animate on your iPad, it would be a mistake NOT to use rough animator. I can’t stress enough how pain free and easy it is use. I especially love the flip wheel feature as I do often like to flip through my frames. Thank you Jacob Kafka! I will definitely be buying for Windows as well!

Note - if you are looking for vector / editing features this is not that, this is a frame by frame app done perfectly.

### ***** "My Number 1 (raster based) ‘traditional’  frame-frame animation app."
Rough animator is great and I totally recommend it for frame to frame based animations. I use it a lot and have never crashed it or lost any work. I used it on two award winning music videos as you can easily add sound/music. It’s brilliant, real easy to learn, very well designed and laid out- its one of those apps that I can’t believe it’s so cheap. I am not affiliated with the developers/makers, I bought my copy like everyone else so this is a genuine review. I’m very happy with the possibilities that this app brings. I love this app it’s meant I can actually animate for my TikTok on the go. It’s missing one or two things like - dragging keyframes around or grouping layers, copying frames, and soloing layers. But really other than that it works so so well.

I personally love RoughAnimator, but there are a few features I’d love to see:
1) A Colour Gradient tool
2) Control over Camera/Cycle easing (For example, Fast in-Slow out, Slow in-Fast out, or just no easing at all)
3) Layer Modes, like in Procreate and Flipaclip (Multiply, Darken, Overlay, Screen, etc)
4) A Text tool. I hate importing text by copying an image, it ruins the quality.

You’ve mad a great app, but adding these features would make it even better! Thanks!

Is a good and strong app but I wish it had more powerful painting functions, such as the ability to blend colours or adjust the hue of the image, the ability to mask and paint in the selected area :D

Great app, easy to understand, easy to animate things, and unlike flippaflip doesn’t force you to have a watermark and let’s you copy and paste. It also has no micro transactions, my only gripe is that you need a pencil of sorts to use.

Hi! Best animation app I’ve found for an IPad. It has so many great features and definitely deserves 5 stars. However, when using the lasso tool, I’ve found that the button (or whatever it is) too small, meaning it often takes a few tried to be able to drag it to a new position. Also, it would be helpful if you could export each individual frame as an image, and be able to remove the background of an animation (although maybe it’s just me who needs that). But these are just suggestions, and overall, amazing!

Best program by far on the ios store i only use it for storyboarding and inbetweens but i know this program is just a personal programming project by one person, there are some quirks and bugs but honestly it’s nothing that makes it unusable. This got my through my collage games design course and my work got me a place at my uni of choice. :) keep up the good work and i would recommend being able to have the double tap feature on the being to only be set to eraser and it not just being the previous tool

Every thing work well untill IOS 15.1.

After IOS 15.1 came out, every time i try to import video, the app will 100% crash ( kick me to the home screen). 
So I tried to find a solution in Google. I tried everything but nothing worked, so I decided to delete the app > restart my iPad >  redownload the app BOOM nothing fixed + all my logo animation projects gone in 1 second. Anyways please fix import video bugs and make cloud if possible. Thank you.

Hi

I really like this app however a couple of things let it down a little.

It could do with more tool options, textured pencils/ crayons ect
Also when rotating a drawing the opacity changes to a lighter tone which is frustrating.
