Communication at home takes many forms — we want more of the dinner-time conversations, but we could do with less of the loud knocking on doors, banging on ceilings, and shouting up stairs. If you have a HomeKit home, why not take advantage of it, and use your lights to help communicate?

Introducing Signals for HomeKit, the best way to communicate in the home, without all the shouting.

Signals works with any of your bulbs, switches or outlets with lights attached - have a kid who plays video games with headphones on? Just tap on their light to give it a few flashes.

Take it to a new level with the Signals Plus In-App Purchase, and put some meaning behind your flashes:

- Create a Time to Go Signal to flash the kids bedroom lights, and then set their night lights green
- A Dinner Time Signal can pulse lights in the bedrooms and the office, and then set them to blue
- Even setup a “GET DOWN HERE NOW” signal, to flash the kids’ lights red, and keep them that way!

Trigger your Signals in multiple ways — in the app, with your voice or automations using Siri Shortcuts, or with our beautiful Widgets!

Whether you have kids, or someone in the family with a hearing disability, Signals for HomeKit can help quiet things down, and keep the conversations face to face, rather than shouted through the house.

Requirements
- Any HomeKit equipped light bulb, switch or outlet. Switches or outlets must be configured with a light attached. HomeKit must already be configured.
- Compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. iOS 15 required.

Usage Notes:
- If you have a bulb or switch with a slow ramp/fade rate, try shortening this rate in the manufacturers app, if the flash isn't noticeable - if this doesn't work, please let us know at https://www.homemadeautomation.com/contact-us, so we can help find a solution!

Good idea in principle although does Not do what it promises

alois6428 on

I paid for the full version on the assumption that I’d be able to link signals to shortcuts which I could then trigger via HomeKit, I.e., flash a light when motion is detected, which the app’s instructions suggest is possible. Whilst I can trigger this in the signals app itself I am unable to trigger signals via a link to homekit, this means that whilst the idea is pretty good it does not really serve a purpose. If this functionality could be enabled I’d buy again and use it, but as it stands this is a bit gimmicky. Apple luckily refunded me for my purchase.

Buggy and not really working

kaminokiller on

I’ve set up two signals - one to flash green and then turn the lights off. Another to flash orange and turn off. When either of these run, the colours randomly change to something else (like one light goes blue) and then the end state turns one of them green and the others off - even though all should be off. As it stands, it’s not fit for purpose as it’s just causing a mess with the lights!

Doesn’t do what’s promised

I’ve downloaded Signals and purchased the Plus edition to be able to flash my smart lights and then restore the state back to the original. Well, the app is unable to do that, leaving the lights in a “flashing” state

No Family Sharing

Supersaurus7000 on

Awesome app, works really well! The shortcuts integration can get bogged down if you try too many lights in one signal, but otherwise it’s great. I love that it’s a simple way to perform actions with the lights and have them revert back to their prior state afterwords. My reason for the lower rating is the lack of family sharing. This app would be super useful for us in our household, but since it’s an in-app purchase rather than full blown separate version of the app, this doesn’t translate across to my family members. So instead of £4.99 (which is well worth it), this would cost us £19.96 for all 4 of us (even more if I want my partner to have access when she’s over). This is a huge hole in the functionality of an app that’s heavily focussed towards being useful in a household environment.

Great idea

This app has always had loads of potential and this latest update is just superb. I’m enjoying using it and the app support is excellent too, very prompt and informative.
