So buggy - won’t let me control lights

Pistachio85 on

Latest iOS version in Dec2024 renders all app controls of the lights unusable - can’t set schedules or even change light colors which is massively inconvenient. Please fix bugs!!

0 stars after being great for years

The company did updates to the app 2 days ago which totally broke and disconnected all my lights.. I would give 0 if I could.. useless customer support! Seriously $1000s of dollars worth of lights are basically useless now.

It’s getting worse

After years of being happy and buying more each year, I’ve reset and now using all my 10 various strings in demo mode. The app is unstable, hours wasted getting them to stay in sync or even changing to get them working in the same program.

I’m a bit disappointed with the technical support service.

UPDATE Dec,2024: After weeks of trial and error and going back and forth with tech support, I’m happy to report that my 3 sets of lights are finally working again. Thank you! And of course I changed my rating. I love the lights, don’t take me wrong, but 3 sets of my first lights (generation 1, c7 lights) just stopped working all of a sudden (so weird, they all stopped working at the same time 🤔) after explain the problem the twinkly support just told me to contact a Third party because I’m in North America. Apparently this poligroup uses twinkly software, produces and distributes twinkly lights here in North America! Who knew and he I was thinking I was buying directly from twinkly just to find out I wasn’t… You know, since is twinkly the name on the boxes and I’ve been asked to contact twinkly directly from the app 🤷🏻‍♀️ But anyways, for the amount of money we have spent on twinkly lights (thousands) I was expecting a better technical support experience than a “here, do it yourself, is not our problem” kind of thing. 🤷🏻‍♀️ I have a similar issue with some Govee lights and they were able to fix it in 24hrs… make you wonder! I have the feeling I won’t get my issue solved. Too bad since I was obsessed with the twinkly lights. Date of experience: November 25, 2024

Almost unusable this year

The latest update brings constant crashes while trying to map my lights, and one of my two lights completely failing to play the playlist. The only way I got the lights remapped was to wipe the app & factory reset the lights. The playlist was working, but today one of my strings, mapped as a group, just refuses to follow it. Instead, one string does the playlist, while the other does a random saved effect permanently.

Stopped working

I’ve had these for 3 years now but this year the app stopped working- can’t use the timer and can’t control remotely. Need an app that can control these otherwise that’s $200 down the drain.

Amazing Products, App Update Needed 2024

Ionkill on

These products are premium with some of the best RGBA (RGBIC) every bulb being addressed is very nice as the effects are high resolution and smooth. Twinkly offers the best effects by far. The app is good but really can use an updates for both usage and ease of use. Still a really annoying issue: Why did you guys update the app on making effects so teadious and annoying now. Every time I use an effect that allows customization like Rainbow/Snake/Fireworks/etc now it requires me to make a new copy of the effect. Just let me pick a colour and hit apply. This is where Twinkly really suffers for quick and easy usage. I don’t want 50 copies of the same effect just because I want to change colours. This really needs to not happen. Look at your rapidly approaching competitor Govee. I pick a colour, I pick and effect done. No saving pallets no saving copies of effects. It just works. I can choose if I like a colour and save it. But if I don’t care about wanting to save a colour I can still rapidly change a colour and apply with no hassle. Product development 101 convenience always sells. I can’t stress this enough. (This can be bypassed with HomeKit/Alexa when switching solid colours). New: The amount of expansion this apps has received is great. But it really needs organizing tabs. So many effects on a wall of effects is getting to be an eye sore for finding effects. Complete: Effect store needs a remake as the catalog is getting bigger, so scroll right, right, right is a bit tedious. It needs a grid style with categories or something. (Halloween, Christmas, etc) New: Now with the vas amount of effects there needs to be a way to download multiple effects. Old: I would also love the ability to fine tune mapped LEDS. Where you can manually move them around after the scan. And their needs to be a rotate option as well. (Only flip) Bugs New: Adjusting products to 100% brightness adds noise artifacts on effects. Cleans up at 99% brightness. Effects: Old: Adjustment for positioning for effects so effects like Santa clause on some builds can still be seen running across. And not his head only showing on the bottom of a few pixels. Old: The ability to still gain access and switch to unmapped effects while lights are mapped. (Example LED strips. Some of the unmapped effects are great like bounces and doubles etc) The new ability that mapped templates are historically saved is amazing and this kinda solves for the request above. Old: The ability to switch

Terrible - ZERO rating

The setup worked for an hour and then stopped. Took 3 days to figure out that I had to update the app. Lights came back on, worked for 4 days then turned off again! 4 days on and I can’t get it going with any instructions I’ve tried. Total garbage for the price I paid! Can’t wait to return!!!!

Twinkly lights are having a disproportionately positive effect on my mental health 😍

The worst Wi-Fi device

Telecommando on

Had these for many years now version one and they never really worked very reliably on Wi-Fi. What a hassle. The good news is they were quite good on the default mode. Just don’t bother doing the mapping. I guess although I always do every year and it costs me a couple of hours of IT time. Just horrible Christmas lights really good hardware except for the Wi-Fi
