Ulysses: Writing App

Greit å bruke Word til jobbdokumenter, men for kreativ skriving og lengre tekster er Ulysses en lek å jobbe med. Morsomt å skrive, morsomt å tilpasse, og det plasserer virkelig teksten i fokus. Anbefales sterkt, på tross av at du må betale abbonnementspris for det. En styrke at du kan dele i alle slags format, spesielt godt egnet for bloggere.

Tre ting gjør Ulysses nesten pperfekt: Enkel organisering av prosjekter og kapiteler, svært lesbar og skrivevennlig skrifttype, og muligheten for dark-mode og fullscreen. En stjerne trekkes fra fordi Ulysses er abonnement-basert, og det er vanskelig å forstå hvor dokumentene/filene er lagret (ingen åpenbart synlige filer i Finder). Ellers topp. Anbefales!

Ulysses have proven to have immense staying power for me. I have used many different kinds of note taking apps over the years but none have stayed with me for so long as Ulyssses. When Ulysses started charging subscription I abandoned it for several years in favor of iA Writer. I have a principle against paying subscriptions. Yet, after several years with iA Writer I came back because Ulysses is simply very hard to match by other software. iA Writer had some benefits I still like such as saving to standard Markdown format. Yet what I always missed from Ulysses was its search functionality. Searching for old articles in Ulysses works much better than in other tools I have used. When you write a lot over many years that is quite important functionality. What really sold me over the last year is the bultin "Check text" functionality. I paid an arm and a leg for a Grammarly subscription to check my writing only to discover that Ulysses provided much grammar and spell checking for a much lower price. Not just better but much faster and convenient to use. Grammarly on my computer was way too slow and impractical. It makes me actually a bit surprised that Ulysses is not more widely known and used.

Ulysses is one of the best software I have ever used, but there are a couple of things that make me cosidering a move on to a new solution. First of all, when iCloud sync and there isn`t enough storage, I cant get access to my notes before everything has been synced and restored. Second, Ulysses is quite expensive, therefore I was moving over to Obsidian for a few months. I loved the free Obsidian, but I miss my Ulysses, so I`m back. Thank you for a great writing experience, Ulysses!!!

Hi. It annoys me when: When i turn fullscreen mode in bright mode, but ulysses app goes suddenly into dark mode even though rest of the system is still in bright mode.

Great writing experience, very nice to avoid all sorts of functional clutter that comes with rich text editors. Great sync, great export possibilities. I will add two more stars once they have implemented an easy way to backup your data as .txt or .md files, I find it cumbersome to export manually all the time. They do have a good backup, but it is proprietary so you cannot easily migrate data. Edit: I've added one more star for receiving a somewhat workable backup. It is possible to do a backup to universal format such as -txt or -md, it is just not so elegant (yet).

Looks like a great product, but its way too expensive unfortunalty.

I like the product, but hate the constant pain in the bottocks having to write a review while in a creative process!
